It's here. There's just a small fraction of their photos up there at the moment, but even that is about 3,000 total, from two sets--color 1930s-1940s and b&w news photos from the 1910s.

Gender roles are always interesting in the world of contra dancing. The way it regularly goes, it is split into men's roles and women's roles. On the other hand, in terms of the culture, women often dance together, and less frequently, so do men-sometimes because the ratios are skewed, sometimes just to mix it up. On Monday night I used a snake (of the plumbing variety) for the first time. While predictably gross, it was tremendously satisfying to finally have a properly draining bathroom sink and bathtub. It also felt good to dabble in a little hands-on butchness (even if that was rather watered down by my needing Robin to actually take the sink trap off. ( Read more... )
