I liked it- except for the rain which managed to not drench us. I don't know how. But, we were NOT miserable.
Support- Wow! The feeling of appreciation I have for the cheering squad and support team is Tremendously Large! I turned around during the first round of fights during Crown to see Chrodec from Stevenson/Vindrbek step in to carry Tiernan's sword, shield, and helmet which I have been doing the last couple of years since he is squireless. How nice it was to see someone there to make sure Tiernan could conserve energy for fights! I was able to concentrate on being Super Consort cheering with the warriors sons, Atticus and Augustus. Atticus had a very prideful victory dance and chant that only a 4 year old can get away with. Both were speaking messages into their hands and tossing them through the air to their father, bowing whilst blowing kisses, and doing their best fighting moves on the sidelines. Quite the show for the spectators! Their daddy was indeed inspired. Poor Octa- when he killed Tiernan, Atticus turned and pouted, "I am NOT happy!" Which garnered sympathy "oh's" and "ah's" from the crowd. Nothing like a sad child. Augustus retorted with, "You will win some other day, Daddy." Cute.
Tiernan was clean coming into the sweet sixteen. Hooray! The Sweet 16 processional was very nice given the short time to assemble. Fiach did us proud by heralding us in- Love that man and his commanding voice :) We were presented new banners from the baroness of Aquaterra, Rosamund who does fabulous work. With three banner bearers following us, we felt as though we did our part to add to the pageantry.
Auntie Linda/Baroness Alina was fantastic at taking care of all of us, being a nanny for the boys, being groom for the horses, and running errands. It is such a huge help - Tiernan and I like having the boys there to watch him fight- but it is work. So, having extra eyes and hands makes it so much easier.
Big Nod to Roukinn who predicted 11 of the 16. Good eye!
Equestrian Tourney- Both The Todd and I rode in the Kingdom Equestrian Championship. I am very proud of both he and Hondo for giving it a shot. They looked awesome! I'd say they were the most handsome pair of all with Tiernan decked out in his shiny brass scale armor. Both performed well for their 4th event as a team.
As usual, Cookie was a good girl and did well. Hondo carried me in the finals for the mounted archery. We were given three arrows- the first, I pulled the string off the arrow, so I was not able to shoot it. Thought about throwing it to see how far I could make it, but some might have thought that to be unsafe... The next two, I hit the cardboard, but not the actual colored target. I was thrilled to not totally embarrass myself! Huzzah! It was the 4th time I had done mounted archery and about the eighth time I've shot. It felt good. Hondo was a trooper and has really shown major progress in the last year. I chose him since he will not bolt when I drop the reins to shoot. His best mode is still a straight run. We will work on turning next year :)
Congrats to Drifa and her good boy Martin for a terrific ride and the Championship. Allison and her new horse Lucky were awesome coming in second out of round one- an amazing feat since Lucky is new to all of this! She's going to be a major contender next season.
New Skills~ I decided to herald Kingdom court Sunday night. Never heralded before, but why not start with the big leagues? I had a few folks tell me I did alright, so there you have it. A new skill set. I was honored to be able to voice the investiture of Owain and Wrenn as Crown Prince and Princess as well as the Silver Rose/Lily ceremony for Octamasades and Achaxe, the bestowing of Thorkell's Cheval et du Lion for being the outgoing Equestrian Champion, Drifa's investiture as Equestrian Champion, and Heilyn's knighting. It comes with an awesome view of the recipient's reactions :)
I'm very happy for Owain and Wrenn's victory. I enjoyed their last reign as King and Queen and know that they have the heart of the Lion and the future of the kingdom in mind as they travel and represent An Tir.
It was a good Crown.
