I decided a while ago that my red and black Holbein dress in linen. The probably cotton I used for my first ever SCA dress is not period and it is so poorly tailored (hey it was my first ever dress) it never quite fit right, I took shortcuts to make it work even though bits look like crap etc etc. I had ordered some red and black linen.
