Montengarde 12th Night
The event was amazing... in fact, the entire weekend was amazing.
Friday night the shire of Rhuddglyn showed up on my doorstep. I was hosting 6 of them for sleeping space and was stressing a bit about that many people in my personal space. oblivions and Wilma came over to help keep me sane. We all headed over to Fiddlers Courtyard and had food a beer! Yum! Midnight saw everyone head to their respective sleeping space.
Maggy and I went out to the hall early to "help" set up the A&S area and the Royals room. No fuss no muss was the word of the day. The event stewards let me set up what I wanted and where and that was that. People arrived, stuff happened. It was a good event! Court was even better, so in the time honoured tradition:
The Amazing
-3 entrants for Champion and 6 display only entries for A&S! I was tickled pink when I had to pull out more tables for A&S displays not once but twice over the day. Proof that A&S isn't dead in Avacal!!!!
- Bryjna breaking during the Oath of Fealty.
The Good
- Being asked to enter with the "inner circle" for Faelan taking Angus as a Man at Arms.
- Handing off my A&S Champion regalia to Bjar
- Cormac winning Rapier!
- Dancing my way out of court! (un huh I did indeed dance my way out thankyouverymuch!)
- Getting lots of baby time with wee Elise!
- Goofing off all through court with Kiera, Toryn and Murchad
- Spending chatty time with Sabd
- Not needing to be on the retinue schedule and it going off amazingly well without me.
- Seeing some awesome people get well deserved awards
- Spending time with my house guests. Spending a few hours gossiping over wine with people who arne't up to their eyeballs in Principality Politics is refreshing.
- Getting jump-hugged by Thore every time I passed him at the event.
- Toryn demanding he was a palm tree for a photo-op
- The hall saying "Hi Adelheid" back at me when I introduced myself before handing off the A&S regalia.... I dunno if blushing while public speaking was good, but it was amusingly memorable. That and the compliments I got back from my Public Speaking... Apparently I haven't lost all my touch.
The Bad
- The weather was shit, way too cold
- Not seeing a lot of out of towners who were supposed to be at the event but didn't make it cause of the weather.
- Chasing judges and entrants all over the place
Since there wasn't any ugly, I decided there were a few things that deserved BETTER then a "good" report
Up next is ESTRELLA!!!! Woo hooo!!!! So much to do in the next 4 weeks so I have enough clothes to wear for a 7 day event......
