Was invited to go out to two places at once tonight - one was Namco arcade, where a friend has returned from Japan after a year and wanted to have a piss-up for the hell of it. The other is a friend-from-work's SECOND birthday piss-up at various bars and clubs around Richmond and Kingston. I decided to go to Namco tonight, but the guy who's party it is, Olly, Facebooked us to tell us he now has the flu and can't make it anymore... I guess a lot of people might show up anyway, but it's a bit shit if no one else does decide to show. So, I'm not going now.
I thought about option #2, but that requires dressing smart and traveling round lots of different pubs and clubs etc... don't get me wrong, I love those places - but it's an hour bus ride back to Ealing from there and more to the point - I really cannot be bothered to dress smart.
I'd actually really love to go out tonight - but I might see who's actually going somewhere sensible instead. Or just stay in, be bored out of my brains and save some money - like last night!!
For the whole last week, I've been writing beats n' tunes absolutely non-stop. Some are great, some are shit. I haven't played them to Judith yet (still want to work on a few more) but she sent me some songs she's been working on and I put some beats on them and sent them back... but so far the only response I've gotten is "it's OK". This doesn't really fill me with confidence.... no, she's been fussing over some guy called Andrew that apparently wants to manage her.
I met Andrew at one of her gigs. He's your average industry tosser, but I don't think he's really part of the industry - or at least - he's not big time. I think he just wants a piece of her ass. But alarm bells are ringing in my head... I keep on thinking about that scene on Wayne's World 2 where the manager (Bobby - played by the incredible Christopher Walken) tells the girl (Cassandra) to forget about the guy (Wayne) as he's basically small time... "We got some real gigs for ya... REAL gigs." Oh God, don't let that happen with us. I'm really enjoying working to her music and I actually think we could make an amazing union musically. I should stop writing music for now, until I know where her loyalty really resides.
Soooo.. after feeling a bit shitty, I've done some retail therapy. Today I wasted money on:
- The Science of Sleep (Michael Gondry film)
- Knocked Up (slightly topical for me?)
- A new kettle (limescale free)
- A josstick holder
- Mario Kart Wii - last copy in Ealing, which I cunningly managed to get from WH Smith, when everywhere else has sold out.
I'm so cool!
