I apparently have a social life

Totally enjoying my evening off. The week has been filled with sleep depravation for going out allll the time... I actually feel like I have a social life now. Last weekend I went to Charl's birthday in Clapham South, drank too many caipirinhas and struggled to get to my dad's the following evening. I made it though and he seemed to be on one of his better days, thankfully. We watched Downfall together - I had been meaning to watch it for a while and glad I finally own it. It's a very interesting account on Hitler's last days.

This week I had been fully booked to go out all week. Judith had a gig in Notting Hill. I'm not sure why I went to be honest. I thought I could stand seeing her again, but it was bloody painful for me and just led to contempt at the time.

On Thursday, I invited my friend Lewis to come and see Portishead with me. They're one of those bands that you just think you'd never see. They never officially split up, but it's been nearly a decade since they last released anything. I guess they caught on with the whole 'reforming' trend in the music industry to make some money. Regardless, they were fucking awesome - for the Dummy tracks, at least. The new material didn't sit very well with me to be honest. Portishead shouldn't be doing rock music, that's not why we love Portishead. I did love it overall, though, even if they didn't play 'Strangers'. Got to see Amir again, whom I haven't seen in yonks, but now he's in London I really ought to catch up with him more.

Last night I had to see Judith again. I recently bought a pair of Mackie HR624 monitors and sold my Fostex to her, so she needed to come pick them up and we dropped them at her place. It was a lot easier to deal with a second time round. We actually started discussing doing music together and how we were planning to do it. I was worried after all that's happened between us the idea might fall through, or she just wasn't that interested - but she is. So I have motivation once more.

I then went to Camden to see an old friend, Chris Fox (one of the people I first worked with at Sega) and downed as many drinks as possible in a short time. Was supposed to go clubbing at Koko that night, but after 8 hours sleep in a few days, I ran away for the last tube instead.

Tonight was supposed to go see another friend in Soho, but she got stuck in some family ordeal. It's a shame, because we haven't caughed up for a while either, but I feel like I'm actually resting now. Writing beats, drinking beer, eating Madras, smoking too many cigarettes. All good stuff!
