Chapter 3: He's more than a friend.

Sungmin actually didn't feel like going home, either, so he just decided to walk around town.

'Aw man...I should've brought some money with me...' He thought as his stomach growled. He hadn't eaten any breakfast or lunch, and he was dying for some food. It was already 5 o'clock...the sun was already setting.

"Ugh, I wish I had my phone right now." Sungmin sighed. But even if he did, who would he call?

SKyuhyun? No, he was the reason he left in the first place, and he was too busy occupying himself with those girls at the karaoke bar.

His parents? They wouldn't be coming home until 10 o'clock anyways.

Heechul? His other friends? No, most of them were at the karaoke bar, too.

Only one person came to his mind...Yesung.

He would have called him if he still had his phone. "I'm so stupid! I canceled my phone just because Kyuhyun said I called too much. Now I can't contact other people, too." Sungmin groaned at his own stupidity.

He walked by several food stores, eyeing the delicious items they were cooking. 'I feel so pathetic right now. I should've just gone home and ate a cup of noodles...' Sungmin thought.

Wow...he should've brought a jacket, too. It was starting to rain. "What the hell? Why is today going so bad for me?" He hugged himself and shivered at the cold wind that blew against him.

Sungmin felt like crying at that moment.

Kyuhyun doesn't pay attention to him. His friends never understand him. He was hungry. He was cold. It was getting late, and even if he walked home right now, it would take him an hour and she would drenched in the rain.

"I'm so stupid..." He whispered to herself.

"Yes, you are."

Sungmin gasped at the familiar voice and turned to see Yesung.

"Why do you always sneak up behind me like that?" Sungmin glared at him.

"I skipped lunch because I was walking around with you at lunch break, so I just came to get something to eat...and then I saw you walking and talking to yourself." Yesung shrugged.

Sungmin blushed. He must've looked pretty retarded, talking to himself like that.

Yesung let out a sigh and took off his jacket. He put it around Sungmin and tightened it around his shoulders.

"Y...you don't have to, Yesung. You're gonna be cold-,"

"I'm fine. You were shaking because it's cold, right? It's better if you wear it." Yesung insisted.

"Are you sure? I don't want-," He winced when he pinched his cheeks.

"Don't argue." He smirked.

Sungmin nodded dumbly and he gently let go of his cheeks.

"Are you hungry?"

Sungmin nodded again.

"Then come with me." Yesung replied, putting his hand on his shoulders and dragging him along. "...I thought you left with Kyuhyun. You two usually walk home together."

"...we were going to karaoke with Heechul and the others, but being the asshole he is, he kept flirting with the other girls. He totally ignored me. I didn't want to go anymore, so I left and then bumped into you." Sungmin explained.

"And I still don't get why you're still with him." Yesung shook his head.

"Because I love him." Sungmin stated bluntly.

Yesung rolled his eyes. It was irritating how he always said that. So what if he loves him? It doesn't matter. Sungmin deserves so much better.

After a while of walking, the rain started to pour heavier, but they reached the food cafe.

Yesung let go of his shoulder and sat down beside him at a table.

"Why are you sitting next to me?" Sungmin blinked.

"Hn. Why? I can't?" Yesung asked and was about to get up, but Sungmin held on his wrist.

"I didn't mean it like that! It's just that...even though I've known you for so many years, you never give me any close physical contact." Sungmin replied.

"Because you have boyfriend." Yesung stated.

"What's that supposed to mean? Just because I'm dating Kyuhyun, doesn't mean I can't have physical with other men." Sungmin glared at him.

"Whatever..." Yesung didn't want to argue, so he just quietly got up and sat across from him.

When a waiter came to their table, Yesung ordered two coffees, a plate of deli sandiches, and a side order of soup.

"Aw...how am I supposed to get back home in this weather?" Sungmin groaned, looking outside at the heavily pouring rain.

"I'll walk you back. You can wear my jacket on the way," Yesung offered.

"What? No way! I'm not gonna let you walk me all the way home...that's too long. And if I wear your jacket, then you'll get wet, and you'll be sick!" Sungmin argued.

Yesung made a small smile at him and shook his head. "...this is exactly why Kyuhyun doesn't deserve you."

Sungmin blinked. "What?"

"You're too good for him."

"What do you mean?"

"Do I really have to explain everything to you?"

Sungmin nodded.

He gazed at him and Sungmin shifted uncomfortably at his intense stare.

"Then let me say it this way. You're strong-willed, sincere, determined, you always look out for others, and you're beautiful."

Sungmin blushed.

"Look, Sungmin...you've been my friend for more than 6 years. You've turned from a naive little boy into a fully grown man. You're everything that a guy could want, and you're wasting your time on Kyuhyun."

"I'm everything that a guy could want?" Sungmin blinked.

Yesung sighed. "Do you honestly think that after more than 6 years, I would still see you as just a childhood friend?"

Sungmin blushed even more. He didn't want to believe that Yesung would see him more than a friend.

"Yesung, I don't think you should go any further than that. I'm Kyuhyun's boyfriend, so we can't be more than friends..." Sungmin muttered, averting his eyes away from his gaze.

"I know. That's why I've kept my distance. But I just want you to know, that I'm attracted to you. I guess I could even admit that I'm in love with you..."

Sungmin didn't know how he could confess so easily like that. Other guys would probably be scared to admit they like someone, but...Yesung was different. He just said it so bluntly.

"U...um...sorry, Yesung. This is all too sudden. You're like my big brother, and-,"

"I know you have feelings for me, too." Yesung interuppted.

"What?" Sungmin's eyes widened.

"I know you so well, Sungmin. I can clearly see how you act so shy around me sometimes...but I also know that it's not enough to surpass the feeling you have for Kyuhyun. Don't worry, I won't try to make a move on you. Even though I think you deserve better, you keep saying that you love him, so I won't get in the way." Yesung shrugged.

Sungmin couldn't deny it. It was true that he was attracted to him. He was, no doubt, very good looking. His dark, sparkling eyes always captivated him, his deep and husky voice would send shivers down his spine, his red hair was gorgeous, and he loved how he would always be there for him.

He opened his mouth to say something, but the waiter came back and set down their food in front of them.

"...well, let's put that conversation behind us. Even though I do like you, I know we'll never have a chance together. It'll be too awkward anyways." Yesung smirked and started eating.

For some reason, Sungmin wasn't hungry anymore. How could he just forget about that conversation? His childhood friend just confessed to him, and now...he wasn't sure if he could see Yesung as a friend, anymore.

He was so much more than that.
