For the past 4 days, I took an intensive Lymphatic Massage class with the Upledger Institute. It was quite overwhelming and I came away with a heck of a lot of new knowledge and massage techniques. As most of you know, I'm enrolled in the massage therapy program at the college I teach at. Right now I'm enrolled in the Intermediate Massage class and we're learning a modality called CranioSacral massage. It works on a physical, cellular, and spiritual (chakras and such) level by palpating and working with the CranioSacral system.

So I survived... I'm sick now but I survived the Beginning Massage Therapy class. The instructor told us not to be surprised if we got sick because, by receiving massages everyday, our systems would be overtaxed since massaging releases and moves toxins out of the body (not to mention that by taking an intensive eight day class we wouldn't be ( Read more... )

In the massage class I'm taking, we don't have the luxury of having private rooms since we're in a classroom setting where the teacher needs to see us all. So there are several tables set up and students all around and not much privacy which is really only a problem when we have to undress/dress behind a sheet held by another student and it's also ( Read more... )
