I loved Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials series and have always wondered about this set of mysteries that are set in Victorian England.  Last season Masterpiece Theatre aired a film of the first book, The Ruby In the Smoke.  It got me hot to read all of them and  now, having read the first two, I can say that the BBC version is very close to the ( Read more... )
