As I've been forcing myself through this hell week, marching toward Friday's showcase, I've been letting Pandora set the soundtrack. I built myself an Awesome 80's station, and the sweet nostalgic sounds of Van Halen, Aerosmith, Journey, Peter Gabriel, and the Police have been keeping my brain in a neon-colored, big-haired stupor. It's totally rad. And I've acquired some interesting tidbits along the way. Like that Steve Winwood had an album called "Naughty but Nice". Really? That's the kind of album title I would expect from a band like, say, Extreme. Or Poison. But Steve Winwood? He's one consonant away from being an oboe.
Apparently the 80's rock method of work has, well...worked. The big, towering, monolithic tasks have been slayed and sent to the printers. That leaves the mother of all workloads - the showcase this Friday. After that, I will be free, free at last, free as a bird, freer than the air itself, until September when the students return. I love college summers!! No kids, campus utterly calm, beautiful weather. I can't wait.
