The Long Road to Answers

Last Friday I had an ultrasound and a series of blood tests to attempt to narrow down the causes of some chronic abdominal pain that I've been having for years. This morning I went to my doctor's to find out the results, and the ultrasound showed shadows on my gallbladder, which the doctor said could either be stones or something called "sludge". The blood tests showed elevated liver enzymes and low white blood cell count. These results are strange, as the gallbladder and its related symptoms exhibit in the the upper right quadrant of the abdomen, and 90% of my pain has been in the lower left quadrant. I must now go see a specialist to get a second opinion on the ultrasound, and go in for a second set of blood tests. This pain has gone undiagnosed for almost 10 years, and this is the 3rd set of doctors I've gone through trying to figure it out. I'm nearing the end of my rope. Additionally, I've lost 7 pounds since December (NOT a good thing for me) and my blood pressure is 92 over 50.

To top things off, our annual showcase is in less than two weeks, and I've got to put these worries (and the appointments) aside until it's finished. I cannot wait until the month of May brings some welcome relief to this unbelievably crazy time.
