There's a little known fact that if you wish to keep something secret from a ninja the best place to conceal it is in plain sight. This is especially true if what you're trying to conceal are plans for a birthday celebration, and the ninja you wish to keep these plans from is Michaelangelo

Dinah hovers by the table and munching on a red bean bun in her hand, looking at the paper from where she's standing.

"Whose birthday is it?"

He looks up from his notes to smile warmly at Dinah.
"My youngest son, Michaelangelo. Please, sit. Join me."

[raptorcanaria]

"The bartender?"

She does, and picks through a few of the papers as she moves them away from her food.

"What are you planning to do?"

[mnr_splinter]

"Yes, the bartender."

Never did he ever in his wildest dreams ever even THINK of using that as a descriptor for one of his sons.

F'n Milliways.

"That seems to be my dilemma. I am not sure."

Sometimes, unexpected people are easy to see coming, given the fluorescent lights glinting off of silver hair.

"Wèi," Sallie smiles. "You're plottin' something. I can smell it."

Oh don't talk to Splinter about Silver hair....
He attempts his very best, What? Me? expression. It's easy to see where Mike gets it.

"I don't know what you are talking about."

Sallie believes him.

Honestly.

She also sits down without invitation, declaring, "Well at least include me."

As well she should, he is a pillar of virtue after all.
And you can tell that from the chuckling.

"I am attempting to devise a birthday celebration for Michaelangelo. Or at very least something shaped like it. Tea?"

"Hey, you're Mike's dad, aren't you?"

Even around here, it's a pretty safe bet. While there could be other giant rats around, it's less likely there are other giant rats with such a ninjary look to them.

He is rather ninja'esque, isn't he?
It's the kimono.

"I am," he says looking up from his notes.

"Thought so. He lent me some of the comics. You're pretty distinctive," says the pot to the kettle. "I'm Enzo."

Ahh yes, the books. Splinter's heard about them, but has chosen not to view them for himself.

"I get that a lot," says the old rat with a small smile. "My sons call me Splinter. It is nice to meet you Enzo."

Leo trades out the teapot for a fresh brew and glances vaguely down at the list of Master Plans.

"...you haven't been convinced to have strippers yet, have you?" he asks in almost morbid curiosity.

[mnr_splinter]

"Of course not, Leonardo," he says without looking up. "I'm saving those for your birthday."

Most would not notice the almost non-existent way his shoulders shift when Splinter is fighting back against a good full belly chuckle. But...Leo isn't most.

Leo looks betrayed and rather terrified.

Then scowls.

"You are a very cruel man."

[mnr_splinter]

"I have practiced many years to become so," he says finally releasing the chuckle from it's imprisonment. "It is good to see you, my son. Please join me."

Here he gestures towards the chair to his right.

"...who're you waiting for?"

[mnr_splinter]

"Who says I'm waiting for anyone?"

Answering a question with another question is one of Splinter's favorite games.

"You've got a game board out, and an extra cup for tea?"

[mnr_splinter]

Splinter turns his attention back to the table, and gives the items assembled there a closer inspection.

"Why yes, it does appear that I do. Curious. Perhaps I was waiting for you."
