[OOM: Martha Jones has a hell of a day, and a hell of an evening. Luckily, there’s a scruffy time-traveller who can give her a bit of time off.]

The Doctor steps into the bar and holds the door open for Martha to step through. “Welcome to Milliways, the bar at the end of the universe!”

"This is usually my big finish," he notes. "So, all right, I still owe you a trip. Fair enough?"

Martha smiles. "Fair enough." She lifts her glass. "Cheers."

[thedoctorwho]

"Cheers."

Then, after a moment, "Here I was impressed by how well you were taking the weirdness all in stride. And now it turns out it was all old hat to you, possibly even boring considering the sorts of things that go on here."

Not that he's disappointed, exactly. He knows it's not everyone who makes it here in the first place.

Martha chuckles. "Oh, nothing about today was boring - or old hat. Especially not the bit where we were on the moon."

Or the bit where he kissed her. But anyway.

She cuts him a look, half teasing. "Not disappointed, are you?"

"Me? Nah," he replies quickly, giving her a grin. "You still did brilliantly."

Martha ducks her head, smiling. "You didn't do so badly yourself, either. Next time, though, try not to die?"

[thedoctorwho]

"Deal," he agrees with a nod. "It does sting rather a bit."

Martha shudders internally, but manages to respond lightly enough.

"And you'll worry people. It's kind of disconcerting, you know."

[thedoctorwho]

"Especially when you run into them again afterwards," the Doctor notes absently.

"--What?"

[thedoctorwho]

"What? Er, nothing. If you ever run into someone named Ace while you're here, she'll explain." Regeneration is not something he really wants to go into right at this moment.

[took_a_year_out]

She eyes him. "And I suppose that all the nagging I now really want to do will get me nowhere, right?"

[thedoctorwho]

He considers for a moment. "I'm fairly certain of it, yes."

[took_a_year_out]

She pulls a face at him. "You're no fun, you know that? But I've worked way too hard today already."

[thedoctorwho]

"Exactly. Now it's time to relax and let all that go for a bit." He tips his drink back for a nice swig.

Martha chuckles, taking a drink herself. "You do know I will be on the lookout for this Ace person now, right? You're not getting off that easily."
