Tom steps through the House of Arch painting and heads for the Security Office, which he does on a regular basis these days. It's just that... lately there hasn't been much new information and not being an investigator by trade, there hasn't been much he could do. He has, however, read and enjoyed all of the Sherlock Holmes novels in hopes of being ( Read more... )

Later in the evening X approaches, head tilting as she approaches.

"You are working?"

Her hair is shoulder length, unlike before when it fell midway down her back. It is not difficult to notice.

"Ah, Laura, brilliant. I was hoping I'd see you."

He looks up, takes in the change of hair, but does not comment. There are more important matters at hand.

"I was writing up a report for you. I have news."

He does not look particularly happy. In fact, he looks grim, if anything.

"Oh," X says, eyes narrowing faintly.

"No one else is dead?"

It's only half a question.

"No, no," he says. "Come sit. I'd rather not speak too loudly of this. I was writing up a report, you see."

"Evening, Tom," Mia says when she spies her friend. She was just on her way to find a spot to sit and crochet. It takes near-constant work to keep up with her baby bump, small as it may be for now. "How have you and yours faring?"

[OOC: There will soon be slowtime for a much-needed grocery run and then finishing my sister's birthday cake, but after that I'm here all night.]

He glances up, a small smile in greeting. "Good evening, Mia. We are as well enough, thank you. Ingress is coming home her from Valdemar trip this weekend, and we're looking forward to her arrival."

"Oh lovely. Then I should invite all of you to join us at the Magic Guild, if you can make it. Nash and I are putting together an alumni recital and, knowing Vane, there will likely be a soiree afterward."

Especially now that the Guildmaster is noticeably expecting.

"That would be delightful, I'm sure," he says, with the air of one preoccupied by something much less delightful.

He clears his throat. "You'll have to pardon me. I'm helping with the murder investigation, and I, well, I've had a difficult day."

Funny thing about the Security Office. There's a 200+ year old vampire in there, sitting at a table studying documents and evidence.

...And now looking up at Tom with something of a guilty look in his face. As in, he's not quite he really belongs in here, even if Alanna practically dragged him in.

Tom has been deputized in much the same way, so he's not keeping track of who belongs and who doesn't. Besides, he recognizes this fellow.

"Hullo. Have you seen anyone from Security in lately?"

"Tom. Uh...."

"...Not lately?"

"I was talking to Alanna a few days ago, and she--. Well, she sort of dragged me in here and told me about this case. So I've been reading about it, but--."

He looks around the room. "Well, nobody's thrown me out yet. So maybe I count?"

"I hope you have better luck than I. It's much easier to investigate a murder if you can unethically read suspects' minds, I suspect. Since that is quite frowned upon, it's been quite the puzzle to put together."
