Teja merely wants some tea when he approaches the bar this late afternoon; but he doesn't get any. Instead, he gets a small piece of paper cloth on which there is writing:

Backflip, and Carlotta lands on the bar in front of Teja.

"Greetings!" Teja says, astonished.

It is the schoolgirl he spoke to, some days ago.

"One hopes your lessons of the Frankish language go better now?"

[fiery_ring]

"Not as such." Carlotta admits, springing down to the floor.

"Hallo your Highness."

[ostro_goth]

This greeting makes Teja smile a little.

"Would you wish for something to drink?" he asks. "One assumes, though, that none of what I wrote on the board would be considered suitable for a girl your age."

[fiery_ring]

"I'd love a ginger beer please." She feels in her pocket and puts sixpence down on the bar. "Is that enough?"

[ostro_goth]

"One would think so," Teja says.

The sleek black female rat helping him brings a glass, and Teja looks among the bottles in the cold cabinet until he finds one, and pours for the girl.

[fiery_ring]

"Thanks awfully. Thirsty work jumping around up there."

[ostro_goth]

"You enjoy it, of course," Teja says, "but it still would make you thirsty. Why not drink plain water, first?"

[fiery_ring]

"I like ginger beer." Shrug.

[ostro_goth]

"Would you have more when this is finished?" Teja asks.

[fiery_ring]

"I don't have another sixpence." she sips the drink.

[ostro_goth]

"I would give you one, on he house, as they say?" Teja offers.

[fiery_ring]

"Oh, thank you sir." Carlotta grins.

[ostro_goth]

Teja gives her a little smile, and keeps the bottle ready.

Thirsty children are thirsty.-

[fiery_ring]

She finishes the first one pretty quickly.

[ostro_goth]

And gets her second one, as promised.

"So," Teja asks. "What is wrong about the Frankish language?"
