It is rather fortunate that Tristran and Yvaine have not been turned into animals - who knows what sort of strange ruckus the two of them might have caused as animals with very little inhibitions.

Besides, Tristran already knows exactly how it feels to be an animal, and he can't say he enjoys it very much. He's rather glad that chapter in his life ( Read more... )

Will's just picked up a drink and stops when he sees Tristan, he has manners really, its just he thought Giovanni wore his hair tied back and didn't have a girl.

Bwuahaha - if only you knew, Will. If only you knew.

Tristran doesn't notice anything; admittedly, he is far too enraptured in his own little world, and it is a world that sadly revolves around the girl next to him.

Yvaine isn't particularly certain if Tristran's hair is long enough to be tied back quite yet - but it'd be more than amusing to try.

Especially with a great deal more hair ties than should be considered legal. Or braids. Braids would be fun.

The girl, it might be noted, is equally wrapped up in grinning stupidly and glittering in a rather conspicuous manner.

Manners, yes, Will has those, "Giovanni, looks like ye found a lass to dance with ye."

There are new people (at least to her).

Which are sometimes a great distraction from the sheer insanity of Milliways.

It is a land of distractions she floats in, thinkings at least she is not a swan.

"Fair eve."

They even look relatively normal today - no very long handcuffs, no very loud arguing - just sitting. It's interesting.

The star turns, tilting her head to the side and poking Tristran back slightly so she can see around him, smiling politely.

"Oh," a blink and a small wave. "Hello."

She's getting better at this social thing, really she is.

Tristran also turns to the woman as well and offers her a smile.

"Good evening," he says.

New, they may be to her, but he's been here for a while now - he just doesn't talk very much.

She's been here, too, but she flits out often. Especially now that she's working in Arch. So she missed people!

"I don't believe I've met you before," she offered, with a smile still. "I'm Lady Marian."

Tristran, at least, gets a significantly greater amount of attention than one of the aforementioned glasses of water - a dimly glittering and rather lazily reclining star wound contentedly around his side. He's rather disgustingly comfortable, all things considered.

"This is nice."

A mild hum, easy and pleased.

"Nothing at all has tried to eat us lately," she grins. "Or cause us some sort of bodily harm - or claim to be your long-lost relatives."

Very nice.

"I know - it's been something like a well-deserved vacation, hasn't it?"

Tristran feels so relaxed and happy, and there doesn't seem to be any worldly concerns for him to worry about at the moment (even if the whole Stormhold Kingdom thing is a niggling thought in his mind).

"And when we're ready to resume adventures, we can simply go off when we wish. That is nice, too."

After all, he doesn't think they can possibly continue to do nothing. (For one, the muns won't allow it.)

They are cruel muns, they are. Definitely in cahoots with that narration.

Well-deserved vacation doesn't stand a chance.

She laughs - a lightly sarcastic, decidedly unladylike snort - and tilts her head back a bit, leaning on his shoulder.

"Can't go too long without getting into some sort of trouble," she replies, smiling up at him. "Would be unnatural."

"And our destinies clearly don't call for relaxing for too long," he adds in agreement, nodding sagely. "Since it seems Fortune would rather have us running about, screaming for our lives all the time."

Except - possibly without the screaming. Tristran isn't very good at screaming.

Star does not so very often coming to Milliways, because she is always watching over it. Because the place she watches from encompasses all universes and time lines, stretching in an expanse of blackness with cloaks all those who have stories to tell of journey's they've lived.

But sometimes--

Something does pull her down.

It's somewhere around the middle of some idle, pointless banter - soft smiles and subtle glitter and possibly cold water flicked down Tristran's collar by incredibly innocent parties - somewhere around there that she just stops.

Back straightening, eyes narrowed and skin prickling oddly.

Familiarly.

Which, honestly, might be half of the oddness in and of itself. The fact that it feels familiar. More familiar than anything else she's felt in quite some time now.

Tristran suddenly turns to Yvaine, concerned.

He frowns. "What is it?" he asks her. "Are you okay?"

She sat very simply, a few tables away. To be more specific, on top of the booth table, and to be most specific, about an inch above the booth's table, in the mid air.

Because moons might rise and set, as they waxed and waned, across the worlds, but stars did not touch the ground without a great impetus.

The stillness around her was off setting to certain people, but she watched quietly, with her chin resting on one hand. Also propped against the air, not resting, but as though it held her.
