It is rather fortunate that Tristran and Yvaine have not been turned into animals - who knows what sort of strange ruckus the two of them might have caused as animals with very little inhibitions.

Besides, Tristran already knows exactly how it feels to be an animal, and he can't say he enjoys it very much. He's rather glad that chapter in his life ( Read more... )

There are new people (at least to her).

Which are sometimes a great distraction from the sheer insanity of Milliways.

It is a land of distractions she floats in, thinkings at least she is not a swan.

"Fair eve."

They even look relatively normal today - no very long handcuffs, no very loud arguing - just sitting. It's interesting.

The star turns, tilting her head to the side and poking Tristran back slightly so she can see around him, smiling politely.

"Oh," a blink and a small wave. "Hello."

She's getting better at this social thing, really she is.

Tristran also turns to the woman as well and offers her a smile.

"Good evening," he says.

New, they may be to her, but he's been here for a while now - he just doesn't talk very much.

She's been here, too, but she flits out often. Especially now that she's working in Arch. So she missed people!

"I don't believe I've met you before," she offered, with a smile still. "I'm Lady Marian."

People who like people - Yvaine's going to have to pay attention as to how to go about doing that properly.

"We have been - detained for a while," she replies. "So it makes sense to have not, I am thinking."

She shrugs a bit sheepishly and then remembers her manners. It only takes a little while this time.

"I am Yvaine, and this is Tristran. Pleased to make your acquaintance."

Tristran simply nods politely. Looks like Yvaine is fielding this one well on her own.

"We're on a little bit of a vacation," he adds, a slightly lopsided smile appearing on his face.

"A pleasure, as well," Marian responded.

The Star would be pleased to know Marian could not at all tell that she was not fond, or quiet good, of social interactions thus far.

"That sounds decidedly lovely. Where abouts is your home?"

It takes her a moment of blinking, and mental self correction, before she's able to respond.

"Faerie," she replies and glances quickly up at Tristran. "Well, more specifically, Stormhold. Or at least if will be - eventually."

After a lot more stalling.

A lot more stalling.

Indeed, a lot more stalling.

Tristran nods again. "Yes, once we're sufficiently content," he says with a bit of subtly dark humour.

"And where, Lady Marian, are you from?" Some noble kingdom as well, he thinks, with a title like that.

She looks amused and moved to thinking deeper at the name, and had been about to ask where this might be located since it sounded familiar to their stories when she was asked a question.

"Nottinghamshire in British Isles, during the early twelfth century." This caused the smallest odd smile. "There aren't many people from Earth here that early."

Tristran could give her directions if she'd like. He's handy like that.

"I do not think that we are quite that early anymore," her nose wrinkles thoughtfully - time, to stars, is a bit more blurry than it is for mortals. They age slowly and time seems to go a lot faster when you're watching it from such a distance.

"We come from a time during Queen Victoria's reign," he adds by way of explanation. "It is the 19th century, so we are certainly not as early as you, milady, though still earlier than many here, I think."

"Ah, yes." Marian said with a nod. "Somewhere closer to my end than in the middle. The late twentieth century seems to truly turn the doors much more frequently here."

"And everyone's bloody named Victoria," she mutters quietly, eyes rolling for a moment before she settles back once more.

"I'm bad at times," she says, tone far more audible - and far more polite, at that. "Well, I'm bad at the ground in general, but I do apologize anyway."

Tristran half-laughs at the comment about Victorias (even if it is true), and actually holds himself back from placing an affectionate kiss against Yvaine's hair, because that wouldn't do, what with propriety and all that.

"She is from the sky," Tristran explains to Marian before any odd questions need be asked.

The way she says Marian can not help the small grin that crossed her lips. She knew that feeling even if she didn't know the story behind it.

The small explanation garnered a rather curious look. "Why are you on the ground then?"
