There's a Tommy in the bar this afternoon, seated at a table rather than on his customary couch by the fire. He's in full uniform after some training out by the lake earlier, though the Brachio Staff and his helmet are sitting on top of the table. This is in part because he's currently eating, a large glass of Diet Coke and an entire pizza ( Read more... )

The night before she'd stayed outside in the woods. Especially seeing as this place was a bit too weird for her. Definitely not something she truly wanted to deal with. But the human body has needs. Which is why she gets up from the spot she'd slept in, grabs her bag and guitar, and heads inside.

Once inside she stops short. But someone catches her eye. Which means Tommy's book Symbiosis and Baseline+ Abilities In Metahumans gets picked up and she raises a slight brow at the title. "Some light reading, Dr. O?" She'll ask about the weird ass place or have it explained in a minute. Right now she's just happy to see a familiar face.

Kira, don't you know it's not polite to surprise a guy like that when he's stuffing his face? Tommy chokes momentarily on his mouthful of shrimp scampi pizza, but recovers quickly and swallows before opening his mouth.

"Kira!" He looks surprised. "Yeah, you could call it that, I guess. When did you get here?"

He can only assume that the Yellow Dino Ranger is a new arrival, given that he hasn't seen her here before.

Oh, she knows. Maybe. But we're sure that Dr. Oliver was in need of said surprise at some point or another. Hell, she's surprised that Tommy's there. After all... it isn't like he's ever been missing to her knowledge. Though she could easily be wrong.

"Last night, actually."

She just sort of camped out in the woods.

It is a very convenient thing indeed, to be able to disappear for days at a time and never seem to be gone. It's fortunate that things work that way for the world, as well, given Tommy's duties to the planet. Plus it means that he never has to explain his absences, and he gets to see Jason without having to fly to Georgia or abuse his teleportation abilities.

"Last night? Have you been outside, or something? I've been here for... a while, and I didn't see you."

Tommy tends to forget the world around him when he's buried in his research, of course. Kira could probably have walked right by his table and he would have remained oblivious, had she not spoken up.

Very convenient indeed. Keeps everyone from worrying. Because if Dr. Oliver disappeared then she'd get worried and so would the others. And then there'd be a search party. That would just be chaos all in itself.

"I camped out in the woods last night. I wasn't about ready to walk into some weird bar at the end of the universe. Or so the girl told me this was."

Speaking of research... Kira's still got Tommy's book. But, yes, we know how he gets when he is buried in his research.

"Believe it or not, she wasn't joking. Though if you plan on spending your time in the woods, you'll want to watch out for the demon bunnies." Not that Tommy doesn't think Kira's capable of screaming the things to death, but it's still something to be aware of. He smiles and reclaims his book, setting it back on the pile before gesturing to the chair on the opposite side of the table.

"Well, sit down and have something to eat, as long as you're here. Maybe I can explain things a bit more clearly for you."

"She mentioned the demon bunnies too." But that just... yeah. She wasn't sure whether to believe that or not. She didn't have any problems out there though. And if she did... well, we're sure she could've used her powers to rid herself of her problem.

She watches him a moment before sitting down. "That'd be nice. And possibly in a less confusing manner." She says picking up a piece of pizza.

"I'm not sure how less confusing I can make things," Tommy admits, "but I'll try." He finishes off his piece of pizza, then sits back to think for a moment ( ... )

"The way you're explaining the whole thing is better than how she explained it to me." She takes a bite of the pizza and after swallowing that bite shakes her head. "The way she was explaining it was more of something Ethan would probably understand." Not that the girl had used technical terms or anything but it was just the way she'd worded it. It was more of an Ethan explaination.

Her guitar is laid down onto another chair and her bag is set down on the floor. That way both are out of the way and her hands aren't full. "You've been digitized... that must've been one interesting experience." Even if it was hard to picture. Sort of. But at least her teacher was making sense.

"Interesting once it had happened, markedly unpleasant while it was occurring." Having the entire component makeup of your body radically and unnaturally altered is not exactly a walk through the park with butterflies and sunshine, after all.

Tommy takes a sip of his drink and selects another slice of pizza. "So someone found you and at least... attempted to explain what was going on. Did they get around to telling you how things work here, or what the rules of the house are?"

"I bet." And we're sure its more like hell... or worse when you're having your body radically and unnaturally altered. Yeah... definitely no rainbows and sunshine there.

She leans back in her seat and nods taking another bite. "Yeah, Ravin attempted to explain what the place was. The whole how things work and rules of the house not so much." Kira states after finishing her bite.

Yeah... have fun explaining those Tommy.

Tommy groans inwardly. He's not looking forward to this, because there are some things that you just do not discuss with your students! Kira does, however, need to be made aware of the regs here, even if Tommy suspects she's one of the last people who would break them.

"Basically we're presided over by Bar, while we're here. She's sentient, more or less; I believe it has something to do with magic. At any rate, it makes getting what you need a lot more efficient. Just ask for it, or order from one of the waitrats. Bar'll keep track of your tab for you. You can get pretty much anything here. Bar gave me the books, for example." He pats the large stack on the tabletop.

"As for rules, well, they're basic. No business. No violence. If Mesogog or Elsa were to walk in here right now, we wouldn't be aloud to fight them." He frowns. "I'm not sure about things like the T-drones, because they have tried to follow me here. I'll ask around with Security and see what I can find out, but the general rule is that if you get caught fighting inside ( ... )

So as he talked she ate her pizza. Okay... so this was really weird. After all... sentient Bar? That's just rather out there and something that she's sure would have Ethan's attention. It has hers but not so much. And it was good to know that all she had to do was ask the Bar for something and recieve it. That could come in rather handy.

"Sound like reasonable rules." Though the whole not being able to fight the enemy... yeah, that doesn't sit too well with her. But it was something that she'd have to deal with. Though at the mention of the last two rules she nearly chokes on a piece of the pizza. Um... she's not going to say a thing about that. Nope, not a word.

Hopefully there's no more of that talk. Please.

There will be no more talk of that, at least not until after the winter holidays. Then, Tommy will have to distribute the school district's required handouts for a unit he very much does not look forward to covering.

"I think certain provisions are made for defending yourself, if you're under attack and in immediate danger. I had someone jump on me thinking that I was a ghost a few months ago, and I didn't get in trouble for fighting back."

He frowns. "Actually, getting anything from Bar isn't entirely true. She won't hand out items or substances that are illegal, she won't give alcohol to minors, and she won't give you weapons unless your life will come to a premature end if you don't have one to defend yourself." Tommy grins. "Not that you and I really need to worry about that one. It is possible to morph here, if necessary. Furthermore the only people from our world that I've seen here are former Rangers."

Good! Because she doesn't want to have that talk. Much less with a man that's her teacher and like a type of father figure. That just seems... wrong. Wow, that definitely seemed wrong. More wrong than... yeah, stopping that thought right before it starts.

"No, we don't have to worry about that. Okay, rules are simple. Shouldn't be hard to go by. I'll definitely keep that all in mind." And Tommy explained it a whole lot better than what anyone else probably could. But then again she understands the people she hangs around with a whole lot better.

"They thought you were a ghost?" Though the last part makes her blink. "Former rangers? Which ones?"

Anyone who can understand Dr. Tommy Oliver has to have some sort of metapower. That, at least, is what some of the people he's known in his life would say.

"Yep. Apparently ghosts in their world can do things like we can. And have dark-coloured eyes," he adds. "I was pretty much a prime target." He'd gotten hit with a blast of improperly prepared Ectofoam, too. The hives had been unbearable, and between that and the broken ribs and sprained ankle he'd been in Milliways for a few days.

"There are two, both from the original team. Kimberly Hart, our first Pink Ranger, and Jason Lee Scott." Tommy smiles. "The original Red Ranger, and the first Earth-based Ranger of them all."
