Party like a Rockstar

Whew! So I did everything I shouldn't have done this weekend, but had a damn good time doing it. Instead of being the responsible second year medical student that I should be, I spent the weekend partying like a rockstar. You laugh, but seriously. It all started with a little innocent wine tasting at the Cellars, which was followed up by a night at the Intrigue martini bar (in the Sweet, Fire and Ice on Vets). That was fine and dandy, but I knew things were setting up for a wild saturday night. Rachel called me - she and her cousin were going to be in town. Jake's cousin Spence was free for the weekend. Joel drove in from Thibadoux, and Melissa decided to come along too... as well as some of Spence's other friends.

Dinner was great at Mulates. We started pretty early at the Bulldog on Magazine. By the time everyone joined us, we had been there for a least an hour or two. Somehow after too many drinks, someone had the bright idea to go out dancing. We found our way to the Red Eye on St. Peters. It was just our night - no cover, fun music, and the place was packed. It just so happened that Jake was friends with the bartender and gave us the total hookup on drinks. Our $150 tab was reduced to almost nothing. The rest of the night was a drunken haze of spilled drinks, dancing like I haven't danced in a long time, even an episode of everyone falling down. It was crazy. I was laughing so hard I was crying. The fun continued into the wee morning hours...

Needless to say, this morning was a bit of a slow start... Even though I'm a little tired and now a little behind, I feel like that was exactly what I needed (minus the binge drinking of course). I needed night to just let loose and have some fun, and I got it. Now I can feel as though I do still have a social life. Now, when I get that mid-semester lul when there is nothing but schoolwork as far behind and ahead of me as I can see, I can think back to this night and know that at least I can still party like a rockstar!
