Last day of Freedom
It's been raining all day and I feel a sense of impending doom. It is officially the last day of summer for me. Beginning tomorrow, it's back to studying all the time. At least summer was fun. Unfortunately, today has been drab and dreary. I went to Walmart only to discover that the roads surrounding the store were at least a foot or two underwater. People were stuck in their cars and others were trying to push them out. All of this was in drenching rain and lightning. I didn't even attempt... instead I just took the scenic route. Then when I got home, the parking lot had about 2.5 inches of water and I got SOAKED!! Then, since it is the middle of summer in New Orleans and my apartment is surrounded by trees, when the water came up the bugs came out. There were roaches all over the stairways trying to seek refuge from the rainwater. It was gross. Did I mention how much I am scared of roaches? I am sure in retrospect, it probably would have been funny to see me scrambling up the slippery stairs soaking wet loaded with grocery bags trying to dodge the bugs. I just hope that this is not in any way a preview of what the year will hold!!!
