Yong Hwa and Shin Hye reunites for Heartstrings or You Have Fallen For Me
I am probably one of the very few people who did not finish watching You’re Beautiful. I still haven’t. But I do enjoy the songs, OST, BTS and ANJELL clips which was how I found the fan made MV for Shin Hye and Yong Hwa.

The news of them co-starring together received many positive news and more MVs. So I chanced upon the first few episodes, and something in the show resonates with me. By that I do not mean the in love with a lecturer at my University. I have been guilty of crushing on the most brilliant silent type guy who could not do any wrong ehemm, a classmate but not my professor. That is possibly because I was in the science faculty. Maybe if I went to a music college like in Heartstrings, I most definitely be crushing on Broadway director Song Chan Iu, but definitely no stalking and no stealing a kiss from him…
The show I see is billed as a youth melodrama and you know being that age once when everything seems like it’s a roadblock, an obstacle in finding your way and you encounter perhaps your first love then, something you will remember in future years to come.
The premise of the story is in a music and acting college where Lee Kyu Won plays the gayageum and majoring in traditional music which is possibly influenced or determined by her grandfather, a folk song singer. Lee Shin is also a student there, plays the guitar and has a part time job with his band, The Stupid at the local club. Due to the Stupid’s popularity, Kyu Won commissioned them to play and collect money through ticket sales to raise money for an operation for their ailing Professor. Shin is unable to attend due to the health of the sister but earlier circumstances have dictated the negative perception Kyu Won had for him. Although apologetic, Shin manages to outrage Kyu Won and they made a bet. Thus, the two bands collides.
I loved Kyu Won in the beginning before she got confused with her own feelings for Shin. Although through circumstances and a crazy bet, she was thrown into his orbit, she saw him when he was vulnerable and hurt behind that cool aloof I don’t give a care attitude. She saw him as a person, a person who is not as cool and nonchalant as he seems.
Kyu Won suddenly become a shadow of herself and Shin as she focuses on Shin and his well-being rather than herself. Shin himself faces conflicts in his life where he meets a father he had never known, the rejection of his love for the professor, the hurt he feels as she returns the love of a former flame, the loss of his father from alcoholism abuse. In some small way, Kyu Won is always there be it welcome or unwelcomed by Shin.
The episodes are a bit loose but there are scenes that stand out in each episode, Ki Young's audition, Lee Shin meets his father for the first time, the Coffee scenes. I'm looking forward to the development of the story, hope it focuses on youth, inner struggles, music, friendship, first loves and finding yourself.
