I just watched BOSS 2 first episode, it went at a quick pace after the group disbanded when they failed to protect the Chief of Police two years ago. The group sans (Kimoto who at her request was stationed at a remote area due to her failure in the bomb threat that contributed to the attempted assasination of the Chief of Police) were reassigned with the return of Boss Eriko Osawa. The case was vague but the murders kept coming in the first hour of Boss 2. They must have had a bigger budget and a good editing team cause a lot of things happened in the first hour.
After waching it, many mysteries were cleared up. Particularly on why the website was not updated and how come there were many new additions. I just knew when I watched the new additions that one will turn out to be the bad guy. By showing the cast list, viewers would have been spoilt.
Two main casts from the previous season will be dropped and Kimoto (Erika’s character) suffers a setback (Dejavu from Code Blue). According to the character description, she was held responsible for the assassination due to the dupe bomb she handled during the case and Kimoto was demoted to remote area.
Narumi Riko and Kyoko Hasegawa joins the BOSS team. What little I saw of Kyoko Hasegawa, haven’t seen her for a while and she looks slightly aged, well as compared to the youthful Yutaka and Amami. Not sure how Kyoko’s role will gel with the group, it’s nothing to shout about in the first episode. I am looking for Riko’s expansion in later episodes, touted as a mathematical genius trained in MIT, has sharp tongue and the smarts, but may lack experience.
Earlier on, I was just thinking that wow Toda Erika is everywhere. She was in Spec, she filmed a Spec Movie concurrent with getsuku Taisetsu …. And now she is in BOSS2 and filming a movie on Police Dogs. She must be the busiest actress in Japan. But after watching BOSS2, I saw the light. Although, episode 1 ended on a cliff-hanger, seeing the end credits, it just makes sense that in one way or another Kinomoto would be leaving. I hope she recovers and goes elsewhere. Kinomoto was quirky and grumpy and had her own way with dealing with BOSS and Nodate. Oh well, since Narumi Riko has shown quite a bit sullenness and spunk, she’ll be taking over that department I suppose. By the way, how many times has she acted with Tetsuji kun.
