studying and understanding buddhism, a way of life - is not an academic pursuit like studying economics or medicine - one needs guidance and one needs to journey with a community which lives those precepts out and have those precepts translated into day to day actual living.

I know http://kmspks.org/courses/dharma-study aka Bright Hill Temple has a very good introductory course - and a set of follow up courses leading up to more advanced levels which you may want to consider when you have more time after your CFA.

Perhaps one needs to start by getting to know who Sakyamuni Buddha is and who he was originally first - English Buddhism Course Year 1 Module 1

All the very best to you - the journey to spiritual fulfillment and wisdom starts with the thirst for knowledge - and I do believe you have taken that first step - which is something to be proud of indeed.

I used to live near Bright hill Temple ma .. and I have read some of their publications - there is this ang moh nun in residence there who writes very thoughtful books and I have many wonderful Buddhist friends who share the teachings with me.

All the best for 2012 !!!

Sound like u going through a stage to explore more about life, and options to fulfills your life. Thats great... Ya we all learn (precious) experience, dun we?

Trust me the solution may not be easy to life. Some people may live all their life still have no answer. Nevertheless sometimes, just like your trip, it's the process that count rather than the destination.

Have a fun and fruitful 2012!! :)

Answer to..? Buddhism? I'm not expert on this so I would not attempt to answer.. :)

Answer to meaning of life? That's not easy.. Coz the meaning might differ to different people, and may change on the way.
So usually for people who ask this question, i would ask them to reflect instead.. and ask
them what is life means to them, how would they create meaning in their own life, etc etc.. ;)

Yes Mousey!!

I'm honored to be one of the only 3 other guys in this 2011 review entry of yours. hehe!

Indeed, Buddhism is a way of life, I don't even see it as a religion frankly. I dunno much, but I hope that your pursuits lead you somewhere where you can incorporate the teachings of Lord Buddha into everyday life; which is basically the point, I think. Rather than leading mindless pursuits of praying and what not, it's better to live the Buddhist teaching ways. It has pretty good applicability in modern society too!

I wish you well in 2012 hor! You have transcend the need of a good bod. Really, health is most important right? It's really not about the bod =D

Dear Mousie, this entry of yours, towards the ends, answered the rhetorical question I posted on my facebook wall ( ... )

Oh. To answer the question in the earlier part of your entry:

As with any great cliche quotes from movies, "the answer lies in you".

All the best to you guys!! :)

Remember that beauty is only temporary. What's more important is what's cultivated inside.
