Dear Mousie, this entry of yours, towards the ends, answered the rhetorical question I posted on my facebook wall:
If buddha comes to you (without you knowing who he is) and humbly asks you to show him the way, would you do it? How would you do it?
The answer is as simple as: Yes. Depends.
Other friends have given different comments - not that they're not right. All of them are right in their own rights. More important than the way, is the will. And it is in this entry, your will is evident.
That is good.
Also, Buddhism is no long something as simple as a philosophy. If it is, I believe you would already have satisfied your quest in knowledge of. Those who tell you that it is a philosophy, are the ones who can only currently see it as such. There is no right or wrong answer, but there is an appropriate answer. I think you have the potential for higher learning, but equally as much, you have mundane desires (don't we all) and wants. It is when you are able to separate them, will you be able to see better.
Eventually, if buddhism is to be truly a part of you, you will see yourself helping people, be it the conventional way, or the ways that people do not see.

May be time to meet =)

As with any great cliche quotes from movies, "the answer lies in you".
