So, the healthcare bill passed in the House. To be honest, I haven't been following politics for the past two months, which is a huge change from before. I used to devour the news, blogs, and various political websites daily. Hell, practically hourly.
But sometime in late January, I realized - for the time being at any rate - I had enough. The lies, the stupidity, the sheer ignorance, propaganda and total and utter bullshit of the so-called Republican party (and not a few of the Democrats - I'm look at you Stupak, Nelson, etc.) was inciting me into a rage. For my own mental health, I had to take a break. I'm not a so-called bleeding heart liberal, though I suppose I am when it comes to social issues. I'm moderate when it comes to things like fiscal policy and defense. I'm also pro-single payer with regard to health care, and I think all those libertarians and tea-baggers who think the government should stay out of people's lives except for Defense should move to Somalia where they'd apparently be much happier.
I like Obama quite a lot. I have plenty of quibbles, of course, but I'm glad he tries to 'reach across the aisle'. I think all presidents should. But the level of vitriol and the fact that the only goal of the 'other side of the aisle' is not to govern, but to try to personally destroy any semblance of governance, spread lies and fear and promote ignorance... I despise them, loathe them, even, and I hate the way that makes me feel.

So I've been happily distracting myself by watching Weiss Kreuz, which is total crack with
pretty boys. (It's all
red_squared's fault, and I blame
inksheddings as well because I always blame her for my anime/manga-related obsessions.)
I don't have an OTP - I'd ship any of them with each other. (Hell, why not a big old kitty orgy, just because!) The plot holes are bigger than Mars' Valles Marineris, all of the characters have serious issues/complexes, and it's an older-style anime - at least the first season - so it lacks a bit in the quality department, but I can't stop watching. I finished the first season - 25 eps - and I read the first two Drama CDs. It's so much cracky goodness that I can't help myself, though I still love Saiyuki and Kyo Kara Maoh more.

Reveals for
hp_nextgen_fest are Wednesday, so there's still time to read (anonymously) for those interested. I've been lazy with the recs (as in I've made none. Woe!) but there are several really excellent stories over there. Anyone who knows me could probably guess mine fairly easily, but I'm not saying a word. :-P
Ugh, Monday. Dun wanna work. But just for you, Esinde, I leave you with:
