So, the healthcare bill passed in the House. To be honest, I haven't been following politics for the past two months, which is a huge change from before. I used to devour the news, blogs, and various political websites daily. Hell, practically hourly ( Read more... )

Fine. Blame me for EVERYTHING!!!! I'm used to it. *laughs*

And I've been trying to pay a bit more attention to politics but, yeah. It's making me not only angry but depressed.

You were wise to step back the past few months. The batshit insanity has been overwhelming.

I still hear trickles of it, of course. I just... God, I would DREAD opening my home page. Huffington Post was even pissing me off with most of their 'headlines' - how the fuck are they any different from Drudge when they do that? It's like, there's no logic or reason left. I occasionally tune in to Rachel Maddow, but that's about it these days. I haven't even watched Real Time with Bill Maher - which I love - or John Stewart and Stephen Colbert. I hate turning on my television unless I'm tuning in to one of the Discovery (Science), Nat Geo or History channels.

I just couldn't carry around that amount of rage anymore. It was bleeding over into things I love. God, sometimes I really hate this country. I love it, but I hate it. Argh!

Your thoughts about politics in today's environment are the same as mine. I'm still trying to find a happy medium between "being as well-informed and active as possible" and "literally making myself sick with rage." Haven't quite managed it yet, though!

*hugs*

I just couldn't deal anymore. I can't even watch Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert or Bill Maher. Everything was starting to piss me off, and it was bleeding into things I love. And it's not healthy to walk around feeling like I want to strangle people for their stupidity. "I have seen the enemy and he is us" and all that crap. I felt like I was turning into them. Not that I enjoy sticking my head in the sand, but for now, it will have to do.

Oh, I tried to pay more attention to politics, too, because with everything going on I felt woefully underinformed. But, like you, I could only take so much. The whole bailout thing nearly did me in, and the healthcare reform brouhaha makes me rageful. It all makes me feel slightly less guilty for seeking refuge in pure, pretty-boys-getting-it-on fantasy. :)

::hugs::

I like politics. I think it's fascinating. And sometimes it's even fun. But this climate? Makes me sick with rage. It wasn't even the bailout that did it for me. (Although the way good old Henry initially said "Give me 700 billion. No, don't worry where it's going. I'll take care of everything." was a total "YOU'VE GOT TO BE SHITTING ME!" moment. It doesn't help that the wonderful Supreme Court has decided that corporations are people/citizens. If so, I'm incorporated, so I'd like two votes in the next election please.)

Pretty boys and their sexy voices are a lovely distraction! I just wish I had the voice tracks for the Drama CDs so I could listen while I read.

*hugs* Yeah, definitely hear you on the politics, ugh. And I would like to be informed, but there is a limit to the amount of shit I am willing to look for when I am already overwhelmed with shit that I don't look for, you know?

I know. Grrrr. At least here in NYS the batshit isn't nearly as loud as it is in say, Texas. And Utah. Oy.
