Happy new year! Please treat me well this year too.
I hope everyone's new year has started out well. I'm happy to share a bit of good news on my side: I've been accepted to go on this year's Japan Summer study!
I can't even express how happy I am. I found out right after Japanese class today (with the amazing Kumi-sensei). Akiko-sensei walked in and asked me for my schedule so she could figure out when we could have weekly meetings in preparation for the trip. I asked if I'd been accepted, to which she said yes, and my friend and classmate Livia is going, too. Livia and I were surprisingly calm and said we'd get our schedule to Akiko-sensei right away, and I said thank you maybe a dozen times. Livia and I walked out of the classroom and I said, "We're going to Japan. We're actually going to Japan!" And we started hugging and jumping down the stairs and skipping to our next classes. It was a beautiful moment.
I'm thrilled! I can't wait to go to Japan and learn more about the culture firsthand.
In other news, the Spring semester started yesterday. So far, all of my classes and professors seem amazing. My astronomy teacher is rather lively, Kumi-sensei is amazing as always and I have the same professor for my journalistic reporting class as I did for intro. to journalism. I have Saito-sensei again, but for Japanese contemporary society, which seems an amazing class. My intro. to nutrition professor is quite the character. I'm very pleased so far.
