So I was writing Patrick a letter and headed over to the United States Postal Service website to look up how much it costs to mail a letter to Germany. On the site they have a list of restrictions (things you can't mail to Germany without permission) and prohibitions (things you can't mail to German no matter what, just because the Germans say so). The Prohibitions list cracked me up. What a random bunch of shit. My favourites are bolded.
- Absinthe.
- Articles bearing political or religious notations on the address side.
- Weapons and ammunition: Weapons, parts of weapons, (etc., etc. blah blah blah..)
- Perishable infectious biological substances.
- Playing cards, except in complete decks properly wrapped.
- Pulverized coca beans.
- Radioactive materials.
- Melatonin.
- Live plants and animals.
- Arms and weapons.
But this one is my ABSOLUTE favourite:
- Human remains.
WHAT?? In what instance would you have cause to mail human remains to someone (or just one playing card, also?)?? What is that? Maybe that's something that German people have tried to do in the past, and so the German government had to put a stop to it. I'm sure here, I could make all kinds of horrible jokes, but I'm just going to walk away. LMAO. That's hysterical to me. God, human remains.
