Part of Violet suspected that Cooper was in love with her. It wasn't something she let herself fully acknowledge or wished to talk about in the near future. She wasn't -- isn't -- ready to listen to him declare his feelings and push her into making a decision about whether to change the definition of their relationship, try to pretend the confession never happened, or watch her best friend walk out of her life.
But now, knowing Cooper is with Charlotte, discussing their... no, her vacation plans, she has no plans with Cooper, during their, their as in Cooper and Charlotte's, time together (and how, how, how could he not tell her about him having a relationship -- if that's what it is, Violet obviously doesn't know -- with Charlotte), it's a different fear that overtakes her. A fear of Cooper walking away not because of rejection but because he doesn't need her anymore. A fear that their friendship hasn't really recovered from their night of almost intimacy. A fear that Cooper's love for her might not be there when she's ready to accept it.
Another thing that terrifies her: the final possibility is the one that scares her most.
