At four o clock in the morning, you aren't generally expected to concentrate on much other than the inside of your eyelids. I found myself, however, enchanted by Stephen King's Memoirs on Writing. His abilities to tell stories, even his own, are limitless and genius. The guidelines for writing that he sets to explain are so simple and logical, and yet all of it is a breath of fresh air... something old made new again. It makes me,(not claiming to be a writer of any sort), want to write a book. It makes me want to write something that is simple and true and pure, and when I sit down to read this masterpiece, I want to be entranced and swept away by the story...... by the telling of said story. Though I am not a writer, but a simple blogger of daily happenings, I appreciate the complexity of storytelling and the effort which it entails. I also appreciate Stephen King and writers everywhere for bringing us closer to ourselves, closer to knowledge, and further away from our eyelids on third shift.
