Maybe I brought this on myself by complaining about violent crime in Cleveland recently, when property crime is actually much higher anyway. But today I was leaving to meet Brian/Gary/Ian/Sara at Tommy's, and when when I got to the parking lot... my car wasn't there. It also wasn't on the street as if I had just forgotten that I, for who knows what reason, didn't park in my designated space in the lot. I called the towing place on the sign in case there was some mistake, like the parking sticker fell off or went unnoticed and the car was towed. They didn't have it and suggested it was probably "just stolen." So I called the police and an officer came over to fill out a report.. There was no broken glass around my parking space or anything, but I always lock my doors.. sometimes even before the passengers get out because I have such a habit out of remove_keys(), open_door(), hit_lock_with_hand_holding_keys() (Gary: sorry about function name length) as I step out.
So, that pretty much sucks. I was kinda hoping for some reason the cops took it, cause ya know, they'd just take some money and then give it back eventually, maybe. But now my totally sweet 1993 dodge intrepid with it's rusty passenger doors and broken glove compartment door is who-knows-where doing who-knows-what. *sniffle* It is actually kinda jolting though because I haven't been without access to a car (parents' or my own) since I started driving. I also kinda wish it happened after I went to the grocery store.
So I'm kinda waiting around to see if I hear anything.. not really sure what I'm supposed to do beyond telling the cops, if anything. At least I still work from home, so that's not an inconvenience (but I usually go to the stone oven instead). I need a new car, anyway. But I wasn't quite ready to do that.
