I recently watched this Vid that touched me very deeply and I wanted to share that with you. Let me preface it for you about why this vid touched me so much.
I love the Dean and Sam story. It has touched me to my inner core, the love and devotion they have for each other, even during the times that they were far apart - they were still always there for each other. They have carried each other through many a dark time and that is a rare and beautiful thing.
I am a devout Christian and have very strong beliefs and feelings in God. These last many years I have ridden a wave of dark, deep depression and at times I didn't think I would make it through. Yet, somehow, I always found the strength to carry on. And I know that the strength I received to carry on came from a higher power, because I had nothing left in the tank to give. I also know that God put people in my path that would be able to help me through those dark times.
There is this poem, I don't know if any of you have heard of this, it is entitled 'Footprints in the Sand.' And I truly believe and love the simplicity of the words that come from this poem.
Footprints in the SandOne night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.
This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”
The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”
Mary Stevenson, 1936
I truly believe that God helps us when we need. And that he helps us by bringing someone into our lives that can aide us through the difficult times. And I also believe that those individuals that are already in our lives are made strong when we are weak to help us through and we are made strong when those around us are struggling so we can help them through.
It is with this thought that I liken to Dean and Sam. During the difficult times, one brother has been stronger than the other and they have always helped each other out, been there for each other, through thick and thin. That is what I love about this show, these characters, these brothers and that is the heart, the core, of what keeps me coming back each week.
Now on to the vid. This vid is entitled 'A Brotherly Love Story - Sam and Dean Winchester' by Papilux. The song is entitled 'Footprints in the Sand' by Leona Lewis. It so incorporates the love of these two brothers, how they are always there for each other, and how God has always been watching over them, despite what they may think or feel.
I hope you are as touched by the video as I was. Enjoy!
