I've decided to make this:
http://baconconcentrate.blogspot.com/2009/04/daring-bakers-april-challenge-bacon.html as Maclean's birthday cake/present. Nothing says I Love You like baking and bacon. Right?
I survived my first attempt at hot yoga. Barely. Within the first 5 minutes of class I had sweat pooling behind my bent knees and trickling down the backs of my legs, and I thought to myself, "This is going to be interesting." By the end of class my yoga mat was so covered in sweat that I literally kept slipping off of it. And then I understood why everyone else in class had covered their mat with these towel-like cloths. I honestly don't know if I've ever sweat that much in my life, it was dripping out of every inch of my body. Gross. Yet somehow intriguing. It definitely makes some of the stretches easier because your muscles are so warm and limber. I may just try it again one day. But not for awhile, I think I need to work up to it (mentally at least).
By the time I finished work that night I was absolutely exhausted, which is unusual. But the next morning I felt like I'd been hit by a truck! I was just DONE. Lol! Oh my poor body. One little hot yoga session and I'm down for the count. I'm glad Jade is around to keep me motivated and committed, I really need to get in better shape.
Finally got the nail in my tire fixed, and they did it for free. Yay!! It meant I got to drive the truck for a day and a half, which was sweet. I love my little car, but something about driving the big, black truck makes me feel incredibly sexy.
Monday I put together an idiot free dinner for Maclean to make for himself so he wouldn't order in pizza (again) while I was working. It included a pecan tart for dessert. He messaged me later to say, "I think you've created a tart monster!!" I was like, "Uh, ok.." Turns out the man has never eaten a tart. WHAT?!?!?! Somewhere along the line he got it in that pretty head of his that he wouldn't like tarts, and therefore he's never, ever eaten a tart. Of any size or flavour. Who does that?? Weirdo! I'm glad I introduced him to yet another of life's great pleasures, like avocados and beets and growing arugala...
Speaking of ordering pizza, he was at Dave's last night fixing the brakes on his truck. Around 7pm I texted, "How was the pizza?" to which he replied, "What?! How did you know??" Oh Mike, you boys are so SO predictable.
I finally finished my gardening efforts at the Rose yesterday. The planters look awesome and I love all the comments and compliments. There is this one type of flower that I randomly chose and I love them! They grow in clumps and have gnarly, dark greens and these flowers that look kind of like daisies, with a yellow centre and cream petals, except the petals are pointed (and therefore look way more hard core than daisies). They're really cool because the petals stay closed up around the centre until the sun hits them, then they spread wide open! It makes them seem so.... alive. It's as if they go to sleep at night, and take naps when it's cloudy.
I met this guy last night, who came into the pub for dinner and a drink. He looked like the love child of a hippie and a pirate, and he sat at a high top cross-legged on his tall chair, with his bare feet tucked under him. He listened to his iPod and made eye contact every time I walked by. Turns out his name is Michael, he teaches yoga and runs a fashion and art company. He gave me his card and told me to call him when I want to come by to look at his clothing - it's in a "basement boutique" which means in his house. Apparently there's lots of leather and feathers, and I'm rather intrigued.... and amused. Oh how I love the gypsies!!! As he left he gave me a nod of the head and a "namaste." *grin*
