So yesterday was indeed pretty good. We ended up only going to the American History Museum and the Hirshorn Gallery, but still. I managed to catch whatever dread disease has been afflicting my dad since Sunday, but I'm holding up okay I guess, I just look like hell.
Evidently, American history must be more boring than I remember from my junior year of high school, because it was burdensome to make it through the museum. We saw an exhibit on first ladies, complete with a lot of their dresses, which I guess was all right, though not insanely interesting. We also went through an exhibit on advancing computer technology (the coolest thing there, in my opinion), and that was fun for Daddy and me, him remembering computer models he used to have (the Commodore 64 being his first, which they had on display), and me remembering old Apple ones from back in the day (back in the day being elementary school, haha). Hmm, then there was Julia Child's kitchen, neat, I suppose, if you're into that sort of thing. Oh yeah, I forgot the deal on the Muppets and Jim Henson, that was kind of neat, also Dorothy's ruby red slippers from The Wizard of Oz, which weren't as impressive looking as you might have thought. Then we had lunch in the bottom floor food court there (expensive, as always - I paid $9.90 for three chicken strips, fries and a refillable drink), saw a case full of Ray Charles memorabilia, and headed out to the Hirshorn.
The Hirshorn was definitely my favorite museum thus far. It just had so many cool sculptures and pieces of art in it, things I could actually interact with and appreciate. My dad took over a hundred pictures, so I'll certainly have mementos at least. We decided to take it easy today, rest a bit, as we're all rather museumed out, as it were.
The Chinese for dinner last night was hardly extraordinary. I much prefer the restaurants at home myself, but at least it didn't cost an arm and a leg. I still haven't called Shari back, I should probably do that sometime soon. Finished The Devil Wears Prada today, and I was sad to see it end; Miranda was just so entertaining. Can't wait for the movie. I'm so excited to see Meryl play a super psycho bitch, I get all anxious just thinking about it!
Vacation hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be when we first arrived, don't get me wrong, but I'll also be really glad to leave here on Sunday and get my ass home again.
