Pullman was lovely. It was a balmy day, so we meandered around, marveling at the gorgeous green limestone church and the antiquated hotel. Pullman was initially a town made specifically for factory workers. Eventually, when the factory and town were flailing, it was incorporated into Chicago. However, it's very lush with elegant landscaping and very old, often red brick houses with wooden front porches line the streets. You can only tell it's part of Chicago when an occasional CPD or CTA zips by. It's very quiet, and everybody seems to know one another. If I had to live somewhere in Chicago that wasn't a condo overlooking Lake Michigan within walking distance of a Banana Republic, it would be there, although it's about 15 blocks south of the 95 Red Line, which would complicate transportation and the 111 bus stops running fairly early. I would probably have to take the 3 MLK downtown, which would be, um, interesting. Maybe someday if I win a free car.
My Ling midterm was traumatizing (won't complain, we've all had it happen) and I think I'm going to see Super Size Me tonight. Beforehand, we are going to eat at McDonald's because if we don't, then I think the movie would make me crave fries since it's been months, and if I am greasy and queasy, then I will be much more empathetic.
(Harwood and Norridge are probably two of the most boring "towns" in Chicagoland)
