It was relatively low-key, as it usually is. I believe Albert got more presents than either of us did.
Christmas Eve we had a few people over for dinner, as is our wont.
Beet pickles, marinated mushrooms, pickled carrots with mustard seed and dill, Marcona almonds, smoked gouda, almond thins
Carrot-ginger soup with faux crème fraîche (whipped cream with a bit of buttermilk) and toasted pepitas.
Roast goose with sourdough-dried cherry stuffing
Baked apples & onions
Baked mash of potatoes, carrots, and leeks (with some bleu cheese and topped with asiago and stuck under the broiler -- so good)
Sauteed spinach with garlic and lemon
Ginger beer floats with vanilla ice cream, rum whipped cream, caramel drizzle, and candied ginger garnish
Chocolate covered coconut squares (courtesy of a guest)
Christmas day, as is traditional, we had Chinese food and watched a movie. It turned out to be a very movie weekend. Christmas we watched Kingsman, Boxing Day was The Seven Percent Solution and The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Sunday we saw the new Star Wars.
Monday I awoke to a dead computer. The hard drive seems to have failed completely. Thank goodness for Time Machine. It might go into the shop today, maybe. It's going to be a very long weekend...
