Onward, upward

I'm still slowly hacking away at my sewing room. 4 bins of papers and sundries have been whittled down to 3. I'm taking great satisfaction at shredding old financial papers. What possessed me to keep *every* student loan statement? I found Heather's original sketch for my Flesh & Blood gown (you know, that fantastic red velvet creation that used to be my best garb). Would you hate me if I mentioned that my measurements are the same as when I was a freshman in college?

When I was a teenager, I went through a candlewicking phase. Probably because I hadn't liked counted cross-stitch and these designs were printed right on the fabric. In one of the bins, I found a candlewicking project that I had abandoned *mumble*1 years ago with just the borders left to do. I remembered that I'd run out of the pink floss, but when I unfolded it, I'd apparently also run out of pink ribbon and wicking. Somehow I still had the instructions and even the color picture.

On a whim, I searched for the company and they're still in business. On a total whim, I emailed them, explaining my situation. They mailed me back! They were sorry that they no longer carry the candlewicking thread or the ribbon, but perhaps I could find an equivalent elsewhere and my pink floss is on its way. I guess I'm going to have to finish the darn thing.

The outside of the house, or really the grounds have gotten a lot of attention recently. The cherry tree was pruned. The lawns were mowed and trimmed. The neighbors' overhanging trees were trimmed back. The decrepit Halloween accessories are gone from the porch (I was sad to see Audrey 2 go, but it was her time). I actually want to spend time in the back yard now! Sometimes the answer to the problem is money.

The sorrel has produced an abundant second crop. I should do something with that. Strawberries are still popping up everyone once in a while. They taste amazing, nothing like a supermarket strawberry. Something ate my dill. I might have killed the skirrets by transplanting them. Damn. Wait and see.

Oh yeah. Albert continues to be lovable and adorable.
