Vegas pieces: Zarkana

There's way too much Vegas to put in one post, time to break it down.

Zarkana. Delightful.
I really did wanna see O, but it was sooo expensive, and Zarkana also looked appealing, so we got tickets for that one. Not a bad decision at all. It was really beautiful. I mean, all Cirque things are beautiful, in different ways, but this one was beautiful in a way that I was in the right space to appreciate when I saw it. Music was awesome. There was a painfully gorgeous duo straps routine. I always kind of love how straps look, and should really make it a goal to have the strength to do them. But they look super hard.

But yeah, so the duo straps was two guys, and it was just a really perfect match of the moves they did with the music. Sometimes music and circus routines are just kinda happening at the same time, but not necessarily "together" or whatnot, and this was just beautiful, and oddly...I dunno, sensual? But yeah.

There was also an amazing juggler-girl who juggled off the floor, including walking backwards up stairs WHILE juggling off the stairs in front of her. Crazy.

Wheel of death also present, but which I'm always a little cringe-y about. They jump rope on it, and it always looks like someone's going to fall, and it's slightly uncomfortable to watch. The jump rope guy on this one caught his foot in the jump rope at one point, and did look pretty close to falling.

However, I was not super impressed with the cyr performances. I don't know why, they still looked nice. But I actually sort of blame this on NECCA. There was a pro-track show once with a cyr performance that was amazing, literally breathtaking. And ever since I saw that one, other cyr performances I'm often just kinda like eh, it was fine. They all seem lackluster, somehow. Well, not necessarily lackluster, since they're still cool. I dunno. That said, they're still circles, and I think everything done in circles looks nice. Greylin sometimes says that's what she loves so much about lyra, is that circles complement human bodies nicely, that everyone looks good in the lyra, and I agree. And it applies to cyr wheels, too.

But yeah.. it was definitely worth seeing, I might need to pick up the music from it. Stunning show, lots of fun to watch. Makes me want to get back to circus like right now, too.
