mother - update
Firstly, many many thanks for all the kind replies to my last post. I'm sorry I didn't respond, stuff has just been too, hmm, busy/yeukky, but your thoughts really are appreciated.
In a nutshell, the news about mother isn't good, and I've put it behind this tag as I know it might be trigger-y for a couple of people on my friends list
Mother had the scan the day after my last post. It revealed a brain tumour. Because of her age they're very unlikely to operate. So they have put her on steroids to try and reduce the inflamation around the tumour. The inflamation is what has been causing a lot of her symptoms - the loss of balance, taste etc. But the doctor said that it's really only a matter of weeks, maybe months. He suspects the tumour isn't the sort that grows slowly, as sometimes happens in old people.
So I had to break this news to mother. This is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do
And now I'm trying to sort out power of attorney etc, because that's what she wants. Fortunately (I think), it's not in part of her brain that's likely to lead to losing her marbles
So after all that, and with just a couple of days to get thro, I'm really looking to a few days off - a techy conference thing in Manchester followed by what I'm sure will be a truly marvellous wedding party for the ever so lovely Kim & Drew :)
