I'm trying to figure out what kind of new car to buy. I'm looking at three different cars - the Honda Fit, Honda Civic, and the Toyota Corolla. To get a better idea of what else is out there, I was also looking at the Ford Focus, but out of all of those car, the Focus doesn't have a lot of room, so that one got nixed pretty quick. The other three are more fuel efficient, have more room, and good reliability. Which is something I need.
The car I'm currently driving is a 1995 Thunderbird. I've wanted a T-Bird for years, mostly because, let's be perfectly honest, I am a Beach Boys fan and "Fun Fun Fun" is one of my absolute favorite songs by them. So me being able to cruise around town in my very own T-Bird, well, it's every girl's dream, right? At least I didn't have to worry about daddy taking it away from me though. It was *my* car.
I'm looking for something that gets good fuel economy, has good space (but isn't a land yacht), and doesn't cost an arm and a leg and my first born child. Yes, I'm basically looking for an Econo-box, but I don't need a huge car. And while it has been fun driving a V8 (my T-Bird has a 4.5L V8 under the hood), I'll be happy enough with a smaller engine. Means I have to stop off at the gas station less frequently. I want something I can road-trip in, something I can haul around my friends and small children in, and if I buy new, something that I can drive for ten to fifteen years before it craps out on me. (Sadly, the main reason why I have to get a new car is because my T-Bird's transmission is dying. D: )
There is the possibility that my husband will buy a mid-size truck for himself and give me his car, but I like the idea of getting a brand new car that is JUST MINE. All of the vehicles I've ever owned were pre-owned and with the exception of my poor totaled Taurus, were in half-ass condidtion. So that's probably why the idea of a sparkly new car is exciting to me.
