Melon Field 1 [Ari]

Jul 08, 2008 23:45

The vast forest west of town breaks into a clearing. It's not a small clearing, some stray beam of holiness in a dark and damp jungle, but a large opening, about the size of the town. Being extremely flat, it's easy to see that it's not the forest's edge -- the same forest surrounds it completely on every side. And there's something else easy to ( Read more... )

Unbreakable melons, huh? That makes about as much sense as everything else I've seen here. But as far as Lina was concerned, unbreakable just meant that no one had yet succeeded in breaking them YET. After all, brute force! If it's not working, you're not using enough~!

Besides, presumably delicious magic food that no one could eat? That sounded like a challenge Lina.

Red 2 was looking nice and plump; and besides, red was Lina's color, so she, under cover of night, brought her sword down onto it...

The melon sat there calmly. And. Uh. Not breaking.

She continued to slash at it a few more times, and then stab and it, before sitting down down on top of it... almost like a hen on an egg~ to think about it...

"Well, I see why they're supposedly unbreakable..."

The happy and warm melon was happy and warm. But that was about it.

With no one else currently in the field, Laharl stared contemplatively at the melons. Quelling inner innuendo that made him sick to his stomach just to think of, he gathered power and threw up his hands.

Orbs of dark energy materialized in the sky, spread out and forming a perimiter around the melon patch. "Overlord's Wrath!"

Suddenly, rapidly, the blasts descended into the fruit at random, exploding vibrantly.

When the blasts finally stopped, the melons sat there looking the way they did before.

"WHAT?!?" These fruits were obviously defying the power of the great Laharl. They hadn't seen anything yet, though.

Deciding to focus his power on a single target instead, Laharl concentrated his enery into one hand in the form of an oversized aura of purple flames. He leapt high into the air and brought the Blazing Knuckle attack directly down onto the blue melon in the third row.

The melon continued to defy him, possibly silently snickering in amusement.

Minamimoto finally found a melon patch. He'd heard about the supposedly unbreakable melons, and was determined to prove the people wrong. He was a genius, after all, and he could easily figure something out.

Now, though, Minamimoto was rather irritated at a certain antennae-haired little brat. Sure, he'd gotten his megaphone back, but still! The nerve of that kid! To vent his frustration, Minamimoto whipped out his gun and pumped some lead into Rainbow #1.

Unfortunately, Rainbow #1 took about as much damage from that gun as another Rainbow we know and love.

That would have been too easy, Minamimoto thought. He then whipped out his megaphone, took a couple of steps away from the melons, and began to shout into it.

"ATTENTION ALL ASYMMETRICAL AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS! THE GREAT SHO MINAMIMOTO IS HERE TO FACTOR ALL OF YOU! WHETHER YOU BREAK BY MEETING THE GROUND AT A RATE OF 9.8 m/s, GET TURNED INTO A CERTAIN TYPE OF DAIRY PRODUCT BY MY GUN, OR SIMILAR FIGURES, I'LL FOIL--FIRST, OUTER, INNER, LAST--THIS WHOLE SET!"

The melons gave silent melon-giggles at this loony, and wanted to remind him that 9.8 m/s^2 was the coefficient of acceleration. Or something like that. Tsk~

Spurred on by his usual vague curiosity, the Anti-Spiral stepped into the patch. He watched the others struggle without success for a fair amount of time, then extended his arm toward Green 1; the arm grew in length, but the Anti-Spiral's body did not follow. The arm simply grew longer and longer.

After gripping Green 1, he threw it without comment toward Laharl, where it was on course to hit him in the face.

Ohdear.

Well. Melon was waiting to see if it'd hit Laharl or not.

It did.

Laharl grabbed Red 4, Green 4, and, with his cape, Rainbow 5, and launched them at the Anti-Spiral in retaliation.

The melons zipped through the air, quite enjoying themselves.

They did not break, however.

As he approached the melon field, Mukuro glanced at the others attempting to break the melons open. Most seemed to be getting frustrated with their inability to open the melons. Mukuro didn't plan on staying long. He'd try a couple things, and if nothing worked, he'd leave. Perhaps he'd also use his illusions to startle a couple of people...

He snapped a branch from a tree and then looked at the odd fruit growing in different colors. Scanning the melons, he selected the third rainbow melon. A rainbow melon was an odd sight indeed. He took the branch and gave the melon a couple of pokes, testing how hard it was and if it was trapped or anything of the sort.

The melon rolled a little, quite free, but that seemed to be the extent of the branch's effects.

"Kufufu~ Seems to be rather normal. But..." He poked the melon some more, this time applying a rather large amount of force this time.

Nothing happened, unfortunately; nor do you get entertaining text, because melonmun is sleepy.
