Melon Field 1 [Ari]

Jul 08, 2008 23:45

The vast forest west of town breaks into a clearing. It's not a small clearing, some stray beam of holiness in a dark and damp jungle, but a large opening, about the size of the town. Being extremely flat, it's easy to see that it's not the forest's edge -- the same forest surrounds it completely on every side. And there's something else easy to ( Read more... )

With no one else currently in the field, Laharl stared contemplatively at the melons. Quelling inner innuendo that made him sick to his stomach just to think of, he gathered power and threw up his hands.

Orbs of dark energy materialized in the sky, spread out and forming a perimiter around the melon patch. "Overlord's Wrath!"

Suddenly, rapidly, the blasts descended into the fruit at random, exploding vibrantly.

When the blasts finally stopped, the melons sat there looking the way they did before.

"WHAT?!?" These fruits were obviously defying the power of the great Laharl. They hadn't seen anything yet, though.

Deciding to focus his power on a single target instead, Laharl concentrated his enery into one hand in the form of an oversized aura of purple flames. He leapt high into the air and brought the Blazing Knuckle attack directly down onto the blue melon in the third row.

The melon continued to defy him, possibly silently snickering in amusement.

"Stupid melons!" Clearly they were the young Overlord's bane no matter what their form. His cape suddenly wrapped itself around his hand and slowly removed itself--leaving behind his Laser Blade.

[[I... chose a random sword design for what he had a long time ago, but that was before I realized he had a canon equipment set in Disgaea 2. So. Retconned? Don't hurt me.]]

Walking back to the front of the patch, he dashed through the row of blue melons sword-first.

The melons sat there, not destroyed, displaying their superior intellect whatever adjectives said Overlord might call them.

Desperation was setting in. Laharl grabbed the red melon in the fifth row and threw it, at several hundred miles per hour, more if it had had more time to accelerate, at the first technicolor melon.

The melons hit each other, bounced apart a little such as the laws of gravity would dictate, and remained there, completely unharmed.

Laharl's cape once again suddenly gained life, stretching fluidly to pick up a green melon, wrap itself thinly around it three times, and being squeezing with a force Laharl knew could make lesser demons pop like balloons.

[[...Er... middle row. Forgot that part.]]

The melon was impressed with the attempt, but that was about it.

The melon's owner would like to remind Laharl that he was making this melon-naming business unnecessarily complicated.

[[I-I thought until just now she said not to do this because I can't read.]]

Furious, and fed up with wasting SP, Laharl stomped repeatedly on red #4.

The poor melon didn't appreciate that at all. Nor did it break.
