Notes: AU, contains werewolves, vampires, magic, the whole deal. Also my first fic ever XD. also, I'm playing a bit fast and loose with the ages of the boys. its a bit difficult not to when your dealing with werewolves that can live for almost forever. So their ages are not in the order of real life.

Previous chapter

Siwon  yawns and stretches, feeling a pang of pain shoot through his arm up through his shoulder and down into his chest. He smiles slightly. It feels much better than yesterday. Looking around, he takes in the room he has occupied for the past 4 days. Its sparely furnished, not containing much more than a bed, and some drawers and a dresser pressed up against the walls. The room has the sterile feel of a hospital room.

Siwon stretches again,  mindful of his injuries, and stands. He still feels like he’s dreaming. Or at least, that he should be dreaming. But everything feels real, too real and close.

Convincing his friends and family the  day before had been easier than he’d thought it would be. His friends had thought it strange he’d left without telling them, but apparently Junsu had convinced them that he’d had to have left for a reason. His family hadn’t even found out he’d been missing.

Siwon isn’t sure if he should be thankful that Junsu had done so, or annoyed that he hadn’t even worried. Siwon then snorts,  it was probably another hunch of Junsu’s. Junsu’s gut-feeling  was right more than anyone’s Siwon had ever met. Siwon has since come to take it in stride. He makes a note to thank him, next time he sees him. If he sees him again.

He sighs, and looks up to the small window set high in the wall. Sunlight from the morning spills in to make patterns on the floor. He steps through and breaks the pattern. A grin breaks through the melancholy on his face, and he simply stands in the middle of the room, head back, eyes closed, and breathes in deeply. Slowly at first and then faster and faster he takes in and catalogues all of the new information available to him, from the smells of the wood of the dresser, and the still lingering scent of dinner the night more, to the sounds of  his feet on the ground as he shifts his balance and occasional creaks and groans from the house around him.

He’s not sure where he’s going from here. What the future could and does hold for him. But here and now, he can’t help but cast aside his misgivings in the face of the unexpected beauty he’s found in this moment.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Donghae reaches the lawn of Leeteuk’s house and quickly jogs up to Eunhyuk, who is sitting on the porch. Eunhyuk looks up and immediately rises to his feet, making it obvious that he had been waiting for Donghae.

When Donghae comes to a stop,  he pauses to catch his breathe  and  wipes the sweat from his brow, before fixing Eunhyuk with a serious look. “What happened, Hyukjae?”

Eunhyuk eyes widen momentarily at the form of address, but he quickly settles and answer the elder wolf. “When we got up this morning we found a note nailed to the door.” He gestures towards the door and Donghae can see the hole.

Donghae answers incredulously. “You didn’t sense anyone? Hear anything?”

Eunhyuk shakes his head. He and Donghae open the door and head inside. “No. Its the same emptiness as before, you can’t sense anything. No scent, magic, nothing. Its there, but we don’t know how it happened. So we think it has to be the people that attacked Siwon.”

Donghae frowns as they walk through the house, and he and Hyukjae are silent until they reach a door in the back of the large house. They enter and head down a flight of stairs into a large room. the room is dark,  lit by candles haphazardly placed, but Donghae can easily sense both through the pack bond and physically, the 12 other wolves in the room. Eunhyuk enters the room behind him, and Donghae steps aside to let him through.

He looks to Leeteuk who is standing in a group with Kangin, Han Geng, and Heechul at the center of the room. The others are scattered about, some standing, some sitting. Everyone is silent as He and Eunhyuk enter. Eunhyuk retreats to lean against the wall.

Donghae quickly crosses the room, his footsteps echoing loudly in the silence. When he reaches Leeteuk the alpha wolf holds out his hand. Held gently in his grasp is a piece of paper. Donghae looks up sharply and Leeteuk nods. He can feel the tension resonating in the room, everyone’s focus now on him.  Donghae reaches out and gingerly takes the paper.

Its only half a sheet, torn at the top, a hole torn into the center, but its heavy. Solid. Words are scrawled across it in red ink.

Its time, Donghae-yah. I found it.

I’ll leave it your hands.

For now.

For a moment Donghae can’t breathe. He can feel everyone’s apprehensive gazes. Why was this addressed to him?

“Hae?”

“I-I. What is this?” Donghae tears his gaze away from the paper to face the speaker.

Leeteuk regards him with a serious expression. “We were hoping you could tell us. Do you know who sent this?”

Donghae looks between the words and Leeteuk helplessly. There’s something. Something he’s sure he should know. Should remember. He reaches for it frantically but it slips away, leaving only a sense of wrong in it’s place. Donghae sighs and stares at Leeteuk with wide, confused eyes. “I-Its….. I don’t know. I don’t know. I’ve never seen this writing before.” he contemplates telling them about the weird feeling, but dismisses it as unimportant.

With his words Donghae can feel the rest of the room collectively let out a breath. Leeteuk visibly slumps for moment before straightening at Kangin’s hand in his shoulder. He gives Donghae a smile. “Thanks anyway Hae.”

Donghae looks at him, still visibly shaken. “Y-you couldn’t find anything? Even here?”

Leeteuk’s smile takes on a wry look. “We tried amplifying the the pack magic to see if we could pick anything up. “He nods towards the room. “But nothing.”

Donghae is surprised. Years and years of pack magic had turned the room into almost a sacred place for the Seoul wolf pack. There was nowhere else where the pack magic was stronger than in this room. To think that someone could hide themselves from Leeteuk in his center of power with the entire pack behind him was frightening. One thing was bothering at him though.

“Why didn’t you ask me to help?”

There’s a moment of silence that stretches too long. Donghae can feel his breath quicken and and blinks rapidly.

Something breaks inside, a feeling of betrayal washing over him.

“Donghae-”

“Its fine. I understand.” He sniffs and plasters a bright smile on his face. He chooses to ignore the fact that Everyone knows he’s lying.

Glancing around desperately, Donghae quickly switches topics. “So how is Siwonnie?”

Leeteuk is still looking at him with a saddened expression, and its Kangin that answers. “The kid is fine. Called his friends and family. He went to bed early last night, and hasn’t woken up yet, I believe.

That isn’t right. Donghae frowns slightly. “No, I think he’s awake.”

Heechul interjects here. “And how do you know that?”

“Just a feeling.” a Shrug.

“A feeling?” Heechul raises an eyebrow.

Donghae nods. He notices the smirks and glances being sent between a few of his packmates, and when his gaze settles on Kyuhyun, He gets it.

“He’s not my mate! I don’t want or need one!”

Everyone’s eyes widen at Donghae’s outburst.

Sungmin, one of the ones who has been silent till now, uses this chance to speak up. “Donghae…”

Donghae Shuts his eyes tightly and shakes his head frantically before, quickly spinning and making his way out of the room, ignoring the calls of his friends behind him.

He makes it halfway across the house before he realizes where he’s going and stops abruptly. He backs up against the wall and slides down it to sit on the floor. Staring blankly at the wall across from him, he wonders. What is going on with him? He is fine on his own. He has Leeteuk and Han Geng who had been there for him since the beginning, and all his friends. Friends, he thinks bitterly, who apparently don’t trust him. Still, Its not like he needs trust. He just doesn’t want to be alone. He’s fine as he is.

So why was his first reaction to go and see Siwon? He’s not his mate. Donghae, doesn’t need one. To open up to one person like that was only asking for trouble. To get hurt. Being without a mate was good. Fine. Fine, fine, fine. He was fine. And still lonely. But Donghae knows, knows, that its better this way.

Sighing, Donghae  stands up again. He contemplates his next move. No matter what he still wanted to see Siwon. The man was nice, and would a make a good friend. Yeah, that’s it. All he wanted was a new friend. It’d been a while since Henry joined that pack, and he was just excited. That was all.

Pushing all of his previous thoughts to the back of his head. He’s not thinking about it, won’t. Donghae hums under his breath as he makes his way towards Siwon’s room, allowing a smile to come to his face. Everything’s fine.

Before he gets more than ten steps however he hears footsteps coming up the hall be behind him. He doesn’t need to turn around to tell who it is. “Geng?”

Han Geng quickly crosses the remaining space  to come and stand beside Donghae. He peers into Donghae’s face and asks “Are you okay? You left in a hurry.”

Donghae laughs a little. “Your always asking me that aren’t you? I’m sorry.”

Han Geng mouth curves into an answering smile and he shakes his head. “It’s only because I want to Hae. So there’s no need to apologize.”

Donghae looks away briefly before turning back to Han Geng. “I’m fine Gege. I was a little upset that you guys didn’t trust me enough to call me as soon as you got the note, but I understand everybody’s stressed right now. I’m stressed right now.” He laughs.

Han Geng looks at him closely before nodding. “Okay then. But don’t hesitate to come to me if something really is bothering you okay?”

Donghae gives his assent and then Han Geng asks, “You were going to see Siwon-ssi right?”

Donghae turns from where he started back down the hallway, a confused look on his face. “Yeah?”

“Leeteuk wants to have him shown around and get him to meet the rest of the pack. Do you want to handle that or shall I do it?”

Donghae grins and shakes his head. “I’ll do it. I don’t mind. After you finish what you’re doing go and spend some time with Heechul or something. He’s been complaining nonstop lately about you not paying attention to him. “

Han Geng rolls his eyes. “He’s always like that. If the universe isn’t revolving around him, he’s not getting enough attention.”

Donghae giggles. “But still, relax or something.”

Han Geng looks wistful for a moment. “Relaxing sounds nice.”

“Well get your work done so you can, Gege!”

“Okay, okay, Hae.” Han Geng turns to head back the way he had come, but stops and looks donghae straight in the eye. “Be careful Donghae, You may like this Siwon, but He’s still newly turned and there’s quite a bit we still don’t know.”

Donghae wrinkles his nose and frowns but nods. “I know Gege.”

“Take care then.” Han Geng heads back down the hall.

Donghae takes a deep breath before heading towards Siwon’s room once again. When Donghae reaches the entrance to Siwon’s room he doesn’t knock, but instead, slowly opens the door to look inside.

When he has a full view of the room he freezes, and his breathe catches in his throat. Siwon was standing in the middle of the room with his head back and eyes closed, wearing nothing more than a pairi of loose fitting pants and the remaining bandages. The light streaming in from the window, breaks and dances across his skin, and Donghae can’t help  but flush, his eyes involuntarily dragged to the figure in front of him.

He’s quiet for a moment and then smiles slightly, a blush still on his face, and some of the tension he had been feeling drains out of him at the man’s comforting presence.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Siwon hears a pair of footsteps approaching but can’t bear to break the moment he’s found himself in, and when the door slowly opens he doesn’t open his eyes or turn to face the newcomer. He hears a sharp intake of breathe and then silence. Finally Siwon opens his eyes and lets go of the swarming sensations around him, returning to his new normal state.

When he turns to see who has entered the room, he is somehow not surprised, a part of him he thinks, had known immediately who it was. Siwon can feel himself relaxing, comforted by fact that it was Donghae. He had no problem with the others he had met, but for some reason he felt on edge around them, the urge to snarl and snap at every little thing, over whelming. Donghae, however, brought him down from that edge, even if his head wasn’t any more clear.

Donghae is standing in the doorway, a slight smile gracing his features, a blush spread across his face, Seeing Donghae’s expression, Siwon feels his stomach flutter and his own face begin to heat up.

“Hello, Donghae-ssi.”

Donghae’s smile widens and he gestures “Hi Siwonnie! Can I come in?”

Siwon smiles back and answers “Sure.”

Donghae enters the room but doesn’t close the door behind him. They stare at each other in silence for a moment before Donghae speaks up. “You know, you really can call me Donghae. Or Hae. Or well, anything you want, really. I swear I won’t mind.” He pouts a little and bites at his lip. “Well, unless its mean. But you won’t call me mean names right Siwonnie?”

Siwon is contemplative. “Dong-hae?” He tries out. It sounds kinda awkward on his tongue. “Hae?” There. That one sounds right. Except, its really more of an intimate name than he would have liked. But Siwon thinks that he won’t be able to stop now, and asks, “Is it alright if I call you Hae, then?”

Donghae’s Eyes widen and the flush returns.  He quickly glances to the side, but a grin spreads over his face. When he looks back at Siwon, his whole face is lit up in happiness. “That’s fine Siwonnie!”

Siwon can’t help but to break out into a grin himself at Donghae’s excitement. “Okay then Hae, whats going on today? I know that Leeteuk-ssi said that we were going to admit me into the pack tonight? Is there anything that needs to be done?”

Donghae walks over and says. “Well, lets get those bandages changed, and while I’m doing that I’ll fill you in. Okay Siwonnie?”

Siwon nods in agreement and moves over to sit in the bed. Donghae goes to the same cabinet as Henry had yesterday, and pulls out more bandages, and supplies. Moving back over to Siwon, Donghae kneels in front of him sets the stuff down on the floor. He reaches up to undo the first bandages and skin brushes against skin.

Its like an bolt of electricity has jumped from Donghae’s fingers into Siwon. He can feel his whole body heat up, and for a moment he can’t breathe. Both he and Donghae yelp and flinch away from each other.

Eyes wide, Siwon gasps out “What the hell was that?”

Eyes equally wide and confused, Donghae stutters out “I-I don’t know!”

“You don’t know?”

“Its never happened to me before!”

Siwon raises his hands in front of him in a placating gesture. “Sorry, It just surprised me is all. I’m wound tighter than a coil right now.”

Donghae, eyes still wide, nods jerkily  and says. “Its fine, Siwonnie. It surprised me too.”

They stare at each other uncertainly for a moment, but eventually Donghae reaches back out towards Siwon hesitantly. He pauses a moment before making contact. Siwon braces himself, but the feeling is nothing like it had been before. Sure his skin still tingles wherever Donghae has touched him, and makes  his hair stands on end, but it isn’t the overwhelming sensations of the first time.

Donghae looks amazed, and when Siwon looks at his face he can feel something uncoil inside his chest at the look of  wonder.  Donghae breathes “This is so cool!”  and Siwon can’t hold back a soft laugh.

Siwon’s laugh startles Donghae, and Siwon watches him shake his head before something shutters over his eyes, and Siwon can feel a jerk in his chest. The feelings dancing over his skin stop, and Siwon isn’t sure If he’s disappointed or relieved.

Donghae returns to his  usual smile and proceeds with unwrapping Siwon’s bandages and soon enough Siwon is sitting in nothing more than a loose pair of pants. He shivers at the brush of air over his exposed skin. Donghae leans in closer to peer at the wounds, and Siwon feels his breathe stop and holds very still. What the hell is going on with him today?

Donghae starts speaking as he works. “So Teukie hyung wants you to meet the rest of the pack today.”

Siwon is intrigued. “Really? What are they like?”

Donghae laughs. “Well, there’s fourteen of us, Fifteen when you join, and we’re really some odd kind of Dysfunctional family here. I love it! Every one is different and interesting, but it works.”

“So who all is part of the pack?”

“Hmm, well you met me of course. Then  there’s he oldest, and Alpha Leeteuk. He’s been around for FOREVER. No one knows how old he is, but he’s always been there to watch out for us, we all love him a lot.”  Donghae has a fond smile on is face as his speaks.

“Then there’s Kangin, Leeteuk’s mate. He’s  around nine hundred years old.”

Siwon is incredulous “Nine hundred?! That’s impossible!”

Donghae looks amused. “ Werewolves don’t really age.” Then  a far away look crosses his face. “ Eventually most wolves either go insane or the kill themselves. At least if you don’t have anything to ground you. Mated pairs like Leeteuk and Kangin tend to  live longer because they give each other something to live for. Immortality can really suck, having to watch friends and family grow old and die, time after time. Many wolves can’t handle it.”

Siwon is surprised by how old Donghae‘s eyes look in this moment. “How old are you?”

“Me? I’m…. hmm….honestly I’ve lost track. Somewhere in the area of two thousand. Leeteuk and Han Geng are the only  ones older than me.”

Siwon, eyes wide, can’t help but look at the man before him complete shock.

Donghae grins. “I know, I Know, I don’t act like I’m that old. But you either learn to flow with the changes or you don’t make it. Can’t stay living stuck in the past, you know?”

Siwon nods numbly, still in awe, shock.

“But anyway, Kangin’s nice. He’s a bit gruff, and he’s got a bit of temper sometimes, but he’s really a big softie… not that he’ll ever admit it. And then there’s Han Geng. He’s older than me, but younger than Leeteuk, once again I’m not sure exactly how old he is, but he comes from China. He’s Leeteuk’s second in command, our Beta. He’s generally very calm and softer spoken, at least compared to the rest of the pack. Just don’t ever get him mad. He can really scary! He goes all cold.” Donghae shivers.

“Heechul is his mate, somewhere  around a thousand years.  Heechul’s cool, but he really really bossy! And a little bitchy. Ok, well more than a little, but he’s not a bad person. Heechul is different from us though.”

Donghae looks at him from the corner of his eye and catches Siwon’s curious look. “ He was born a werewolf. His mom was a shaman, and was able to use spells and such to be able to give birth to him. Usually if  a werewolf has a child with a human the baby will turn out to be human, because a werewolf baby will try and turn under the full moon and die. So the fact that Heechul is a born werewolf makes him a little different from the rest of us.”

Donghae looks back up into Siwon’s face and once again looks amused at his expression.

“Us five are some of the last few remnants of the old wolves. there are probably only a few hundred werewolves our age left in the world. Don't worry. Most werewolves these days aren’t even anywhere close to our ages. A few hundred years old  at best, and there are many more of them.”

Siwon doesn’t exactly feel like that’s any better, but he nods.

“Then there’s Yesung and Ryeowook. Ryeowook’s pretty young, only around a hundred or so. He’s nice but he kinda reminds me of  mouse sometimes, but don’t go and underestimate him. When he gets something in his head he won’t stop until its done. Yesung is around four hundred, and he’s a little strange, but you’ll get used to him. He’s got one heck of an amazing voice though. I’ll have to bring you to see him and Kyuhyun sing.”

Siwon is confused. “Kyuhyun? Is he another pack member?”

Donghae nods, “Yep, He’s older than Ryeowook by about twenty years. He’s sarcastic a lot, and he’s been an insomniac ever since video games were invented. But he and Yesung often go and sing at clubs. They’ve really got talent.”

Donghae pauses and looks up at him and says “Looks like you don’t even need them anymore.”

Siwon manages an intelligent “Huh?”

“The bandages, you don’t need them anymore.” Donghae laughs. He looks at Siwon earnestly before grabbing his hand, thankfully the one on his good arm, and drags him to his feet. “Come look!”

Following behind Donghae into the restroom attached to his room, Siwon freezes when he cathces sight of himself in the mirror. Freshly healed scars criss cross across his body, heavily concentrated on one shoulder and his back. The scars are red an raised, but other than some old dried blood Siwon can’t see any remaining wounds.

More of his doubts fade away and break off. There was no way he could explain this., logically. He had seen the half healed tears and rips in his skin the night before and now they were nothing more than scars. At this point werewolves made as much sense as anything else.

Studying himself closely in the mirror he takes in his appearance. He hadn’t really looked at himself in the shocked stupor of the day before.

He  looks different. Not greatly, but there’s a golden quality to his eyes that had never been there before, and more pointed appearance to his teeth, and his canine are definitely longer and sharper than they had been.

And his body. Well, Siwon admits that he had been in shape before,  He ate properly and exercised regularly. But now it appears that every extra ounce of fat on him has turned into muscle, leaving his body well defined. He’s not bulky like some sort of body builder, thank you, he thinks, but when he moves he can see the muscle rippling under his skin.

Amazed, he turns to look at Donghae, who has turned around and is messing with the towels hanging on the towel rack by the shower.

Hearing Siwon turn, Donghae looks over his shoulder and smiles. “Why don’t you take a shower, Siwonnie? Wash all that blood and stuff off you good. There’s soap and stuff in the shower, and towels right here. I’ll go and bring you some clothes to change into.”

Siwon watches as Donghae begins to fidget and blush. Siwon doesn’t know why that is, but he’s not about to turn down an offer to be clean, so he nods and says “Alright then.”

Donghae nods as well, and walks towards the door, He stops in the entrance for a moment and says “once you’re done I’ll bring you to the pack and let them introduce themselves. There were a few I didn’t get to tell you about. I’ll be back soon with some clothes.”

Donghae then leaves and shuts the door behind him, leaving Siwon alone in the room. Siwon stands there for a moment, thoughts running through his head a mile a minute, before sighing and pulling of his clothes to get into the shower.

As the warm water runs over him, washing away the remnants of the previous days he can’t help but think, that today was going to be interesting.

Aggggghhhhh >.< This took so long! I'm sorry! I keep writing and adding stuff and I never seem to get to point where I wanted to stop the chapter at. But I'd hit over 4,000 words for this chapter and decided it needed to stop.
