Having fun in the snow

I'm supremely disappointed that I've not been able to take advantage of this 4-6" of snow to do some Calvin & Hobbes snow art. I even dug out the Wii sports accessories to do some scaled down selections from comic #6 on this page. Also had plans to do the ice cream scoop in the back one. But we got out there this morning and there's a solid ( Read more... )

At least you grew up on the plateau. There were a few of those out today, but mostly a lot of those little plastic saucers and the plastic toboggan-types.

well... near the plateau, but yeah, i had elevation working for me. you've got to have a good wet snow for a runner sled, too, so you only need a couple of initial runs to get ice-tracks made.

They had some pretty good ice going on today by the time we got up there. If they really loaded them down, they flew all the way to the cross street. Pretty awesome! You know, for the once every 10 years you get to use them. ;)

We pulled out the old runner sled... I think it was my dad's to give you an idea of it's age, when we went sledding around 10:30 pm on Saturday. Also had a roll-up sled that is little more than a fairly thick piece of flexible plastic :P I used to have a full toboggan sled that could sit two kids (fairly small ones), but over use in areas of thin snow sort of scrapped the bottom out :P

Back many years ago, with a really good snow, we'd hook our dog up to the runner sled and he would pull the brothers around the block :P And yes... this was all in Cookeville.
