Having fun in the snow

I'm supremely disappointed that I've not been able to take advantage of this 4-6" of snow to do some Calvin & Hobbes snow art. I even dug out the Wii sports accessories to do some scaled down selections from comic #6 on this page. Also had plans to do the ice cream scoop in the back one. But we got out there this morning and there's a solid crust of ice on top of incredibly powdery stuff. I can't even form a respectable snowball, let alone construct a complete snowman house of horrors in the front yard.

So, instead, we snagged a trash can lid and headed for the hills. Unfortunately, that didn't work so well. I think it was a combination of the lid not being entirely smooth structurally and Jonah not weighing enough. We live in too nice a neighborhood to use our old childhood standby (stolen street signs). So, I got Jonah on a ride share program with some of the neighborhood kids that for some odd reason own real sleds in Tennessee (transplants, must be). He had a blast when he was safely nestled in someone's grasp. But as Chris pulled him down in a toddler sized sled that didn't slide much (has a long string to pull though), he made him stop halfway down the hill so he could get off. Then Jonah wanted to continue on down the hill pulling the sled himself. Unfortunately, he was looking down the hill, not up at the approaching sledders and got clipped by someone who just couldn't avoid him. A friend of ours who's on Twitter mentioned using cookie sheets. He and his wife were loading up a flask of whiskey and hitting the make-shift slopes in their neighborhood. Sounds like a fantastic plan for later!

This is not doing much to help my argument against moving to Denver though. Chris is all set and Jonah is now sold. However, the dogs and cat are on my side!

At any rate, our pics are here.

I wish I had gotten a pic of the guy towing a bunch of kids around on a tarp type thing tied to the back of his pick up truck. It was kind of the epitome of redneck. The kid sitting on the tailgate of the truck was obviously videoing it on what looked like a smart phone.

Also, Belmont kids WIN at sledding. That's it, I'm done. They win.

ETA: I found their failed attempt as well.
