To be able to read is a wonderful thing, an achievement of the mind that is fascinating in and of itself. To enjoy reading is a separate gift in itself, and one I'm grateful is in my life. I love reading books written by people with disabilities and impairments because it offers insight you just can't get anywhere else. It shows the challenges people face, even for the most basic things that we take for granted like holding a spoon, blinking, getting into buildings, and saying your own name when introducing yourself ( Read more... )

I wasn't aware of this, but that's cool! A lot of them are a clash of cultures -- the North and Harriet Beecher Stowe produced Uncle Tom's Cabin, so the South produced Little Eve: The Flower of the South.
