Yoinked from thilia and em-rose483 on Livejournal because they and this meme are all very awesome. This was really enjoyable to do!

1. Favorite childhood book?

Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine. I read it over and over and over...

2. What are you reading right now?

The Canon: A Whirlgig Tour of the Beautiful Basics of Science by Natalie Angier. It's what it says -- science writing -- written very well, very interesting, and very accessibly. :)

3. What books do you have on request at the library?

None right now. I have several that need to be renewed but since I work there I know nobody there cares.

4. Bad book habit?

A majority of times I skip to the last page and skim it, reading the last line.

5. What do you currently have checked out at the library?

Assorted fiction books... one about a time-traveling actor who acts in Shakespearean plays then and now, a historic fiction about conflict in Israel... I don't remember. I check a large amount of books out and keep em in a pile until I'm ready for them.

6. Do you have an e-reader?

Yep! A B&N Nook color.

7. Do you prefer to read one book at a time, or several at once?

I like sticking to one, but I can do two at a time especially if they're different genres.

8. Have your reading habits changed since starting a blog?

I look up books my blog and LJ friends recommend.

9. Least favourite book you read this year (so far)?

Woman in the Wall by Patrice Kindl. It's about a girl with social phobia who lives in a giant house with her family, and she build herself secret passages to live in the walls. Come on. A 7 year old learning how to independently use power tools and complete sound home construction projects? And guess what makes her come out of her walls? Spoiler alert: a cheap date at a high school prom. My main issue with this book was that she was a strong independent character who sought self-growth, knowledge, and pursued a charitable existance... but then she went all willy-nilly over a boy, the first one she meets, and lost her independence, sense of self, and self-identification over him.

10. Favorite book you've read this year?

The Sign by Raymond Khoury. It's a thriller which highlights the strife between science and religion.

11. How often do you read out of your comfort zone?

I give everything a try usually. I didn't like mystery, romance, or self-help.

12. What is your reading comfort zone?

Stories about the end of the world, fantasy, futuristic, period, thrillers, books with crazy psychology going on in them.

13. Can you read on the bus?

Yes.

14. Favorite place to read?

Curled up on the couch under a blanket, with my puppies next to me.

15. What is your policy on book lending?

Please return it in the condition in which I lent it to you

16. Do you ever dog-ear books?

Nope!

17. Do you ever write in the margins of your books?

Depends on the book and if it's mine or not. I like how the Nook lets me highlight and add notes to the text.

18. Not even with text books?

Not usually. I like making post-it notes and sticking them in there.

19. What is your favourite language to read in?

English

20. What makes you love a book?

Awesome plots, relatable and realistic characters, and a prose/writing style that sits well with me.

21. What will inspire you to recommend a book?

Depends on what it's about and who I'm recommending it to! Usually the content of the book, or the characters I guess.

22. Favorite genre?

Apocalypse books, thrillers, fantasy, sci-fi... Probably apocalypse more than anything. I love books about the degeneration of the human rade like in Lord of the Flies, Battle Royale, the Wind-Up Girl, or Robopocalypse. I also adore books about or written by people with disabilities (Think My Life by Helen Keller or what I write about here.)

23. Genre you rarely read (but wish you did)?

Mystery. It sounds mentally engaging but every one I've read so far is dry and boring.

24. Favourite biography?

I can't think of one off the top of my head. I read more autobiographies than biographies.

25. Have you ever read a self-help book?

A few times

26. Favourite cookbook?

Ones with pictures.... honestly I don't know. I use the internet for recipes. One time I did a group project for adult language therapy, and we collaborated to make a cookbook. I have a copy. I guess that one is my favorite. It's called Summer 2012 Aphasia Group Cookbook.

27. Most inspirational book you've read this year (fiction or non-fiction)?

The Canon one by Natalie Angier. It's really illuminating about scientific topics, even scientific thinking and reasoning.

Crunchy salty things, sweet cookies, tea...depends. Usually never dinner food though.

29. Name a case in which hype ruined your reading experience.

Hunger Games

30. How often do you agree with critics about a book?

I don't read critics usually.

31. How do you feel about giving bad/negative reviews?

I reviewed a lot on THF. I love reviewing and analyzing strengths and weaknesses about a work. I rarely ever give a purely negative review. I usually give what I feel the work deserves, sometimes with some added enthusiasm if I like the person who wrote it, or if the subject is about something near and dear to me.

32. If you could read in a foreign language, which language would you chose?

Chinese because it's a neat and different language.

33. Most intimidating book you've ever read?

Not a book, but Hamlet by Shakespeare.

34. Most intimidating book you're too nervous to begin?

I can't think of one.

35. Favorite Poet?

Wu-Tang clan. Does that count? Haha I really have no idea. Can music lyrics be poetry? If so, then lyrics from La Oreja De Van Gogh.

0-5

37. How often have you returned books to the library unread?

A couple hundred.

47. How often do you skim a book before reading it?

Skim the last page around 68% of the time.

48. What would cause you to stop reading a book half-way through?

If I can't tolerate the writing style, characterization, content, or themes.

49. Do you like to keep your books organized?

By size

50. Do you prefer to keep books or give them away once you've read them?

Keep because they're my familiar old friends when I re-read

51. Are there any books you've been avoiding?

Not at the moment.

52. Name a book that made you angry.

Where is the Mango Princess? By Cathy Crimmins. At one point it talked about how ineffective and even harmful the U.S. healthcare system is, and it was appalling.

53. A book you didn't expect to like but did?

Harry Potter, actually. It took some convincing by my fourth grade friends that I should read it.

54. A book that you expected to like but didn't?

Hunger Games. I didn't expect it to be as unenjoyable as it was to me. I knew it might not be my favorite, but wow did I not like it.

Teen fiction fantasy like the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. And fanfiction. Lately Tokio Hotel stuff and Drarry (Draco/Harry).
