so cool
Anyone else find the amount of mythology in the Bible, especially the Old Testament .. i mean like all the Babaloynian mythology and all sorts of other things that are written and ignored ... for instance the fact that the first real mention of a monotheistic religion .. a single God for all people .. is in Isaiah .. we just interpret the books before that to mean otherwise ... its so much fun reading that book critically .. when you read it with convictions .. you will use it to justify your convictions ... instead of reading exactly what it says ... its quite fascinating.
Its also really cool to look at the historical development of the Bible itself and how it and western religions were influenced by all the other polytheistic religions of the time.
I love my theology class ... its so cool to just look at the Bible and analyze it, not use it for the purpose of justifying yourself ... and in that process of actually reading it you begin to actually think about God and the universe and not just use the ideas of someone who went to seminary (or who didnt).
