Don Juan in Hell

Apparently that’s the way HYDE signs fans birthday messages on HYDE ROOM:

地獄のドンファン HYDE
Jigoku no Don Fan
Don Juan in Hell

That’s the title of an old manga by Tani Kouji 谷弘児, published by Toukousha in the Sakurai Bunko series.

What makes me think HYDE’s nickname hints at it is the fact that HYDE wanted to become a mangaka when he was at primary school, and this manga was released in 1979 (and probably re-released in 1984), when HYDE was 10 years old, so it’s very likely he was able to read it.

I may be wrong, but it drew my attention, so I did a little research.

Being it that old, it’s very difficult to find information about the work and his author.
The title recalls Charles Baudelaires’s poem “Don Juan aux enfers”, but the plot is a bit different:

“A string of unnatural deaths:  young women die of senile decay in one night. Detective Kyosuke Kamiyama, who is in charge of this enigma, penetrates in Kuroki Castle above Kiso Mountain. But the case slips through his fingers”.

On the cover it’s described as a 怪奇探偵漫画 kaiki tantei manga (mistery detective manga).

This plot makes me think that Don Juan is actually the killer here, and he’s possibly the one on the cover (?)
I’m sorry but I wasn’t able to find how the story ends.

Thanks to this auction it's possible to have a peek at inner pages:

About the author, Tani Kouji is the pseudonym of Otani Hiroyuki, born in 1953.
Other pseudonyms are Tani Hiroshi and Kagemizo Youji.
His most peculiar feature seems to be his own manga world: a fantastic world, full of erotic and grotesque elements, drawn with a nervous line.
Major works include  “Roses and Guns”, "Mugen Castle murder".

Not that informative in the end, but I enjoyed searching for it ^^
Hope the source is reliable ^^;
