Thanksgiving

Nov 27, 2008 22:30

Given the fact that it is Thanksgiving in the USA, I have seen a few posts from my flist about being thankful, and I decided that I would post one as well.

So what am I thankful for today?

I am thankful for Sandra, my beautiful partner of 2 years and the love of my life. The words to express what I think, and what I feel for her are totally inadequate, but life without her would be unimaginable. I love you, babe.

I am thankful that my funk of last week and the week before seems to have lifted some. Getting some much needed sleep assisted me in this, but also the support and encouragement of the following people.

haggitha This woman has been my one haggis cheer squad for almost as long as I have been online. I met her through a Voyager Slash Fan Fiction list and she has 'nattered, blethered, chattered, laughed, cried, loved, lost, with me, cheered me on when I wanted to quit, lifted me up when I fell, upheld me when I was depressed, and always--always believed in me.

candlelightmc Mac...What times we have shared, huh! Good, bad, in between. The highs the lows -- the strange new worlds ;) I deeply appreciate your presence in my life. Even when I am absent, or too wrapped up in myself, you're always there for when I come back. Your patience, friendship, respect and encouragement are very important to me.

leahyu A new friend whom I have not known for very long, but she has quickly established a place in my heart. This woman makes me laugh, think, sometimes makes me cry (but in the good way), bounces around completely zany ideas and generally brightens my day, even if she does then to keep me up too late of a night. (as do the other two above).

alex_beecroft For the beautiful cover art she designed for my short story Champion of Olympia, but more importantly for talking me through a crisis of faith surrounding Prop 8 and all that stuff. Sometimes you find a 'Barnabus' in an unlikely place, but they're always right where they're needed at the precise moment they're needed. Thank you!

j3nny3lf  and city_of_dis  You two have to be listed together, and you know why, and I don't have the space here to mention ALL the reasons I am thankful for you. You both know what they are, anyway. *slushies and love*

I am thankful, indeed, for my friends on LJ, Blogger, MDD, Xanga, Glee.com, Author's Den, facebook etc, etc. You're a cast of thousands too numerous to name individually, but if a site we share is listed here, YOU are included.

I'm thankful for my three kids. I am always struck with awe, wondering how I managed to raise three such awesome people. They're considerate, kind, loving, funny, industrious and responsible. *proud*

My son is a sweet nerd who loves his computers and electronics, has a good twin/bad twin personality, both of which I love to pieces. He will go out of his way to help anyone who is in need, can talk your ear off about technology, and makes me laugh so hard it hurts sometimes.

My Eldest Daughter  (who gets compared to Liv Tyler) just told me on MSN: "I'm making my Christmas list." and then went on to tell me what is on her list. It's a list of what SHE is giving to others.

My youngest daughter just graduated high school and is so beautiful. She is

Straight edge is a life long oath to abstain from all forms of recreational drugs including alcohol and cigarettes, and to abstain from promiscuous sex and moderate our sexual desires in general. These are the only guidelines for straight edge; all other lifestyle choices such as diet, religion, and political views are all optional pursuits often associated with straight edge.

Straight edge is an independent philosophy and is not directly associated with any creed, trend, music, religion or principle. Straight edge was born out of the hardcore music scene but the ONLY requirements of adopting a straight edge lifestyle is abstention from drugs and promiscuous sex.

The straight edge oath is one for life, taken to the grave (til' death). Straight edge is not for everyone. Straight edge is not flexible. Straight edge is a radical commitment to stay free of addiction and the destructive escapism common to society for your entire life. If you cannot maintain this oath until death, simply do not take it. If you must have promiscuous sex, call yourself poison free. The abstention from promiscuous sex is an element of straight edge often ignored or casually looked over by straight edge people but it is equally as important as not drinking, smoking or drugging yourself.

and proud of it and I am proud of her!

I'm thankful for the ability to write, and for the fact that some of what I write has been published, and people actually bought it! *amazed* I am thankful for readers, reviewers, editors, proof readers, publishers and everyone who makes it possible for me to do what I love to do.

I'm thankful that I am alive, and more or less whole, in these uncertain times, that's actually a big thing.

I'm thankful for the cosmos and for being a part of it.

What are you thankful for?

friends, gratitude, writing, readers, kids, thanksgiving, family, publising
